Immigration Consultants- are they registered with the OISC

Anybody thinking of using a Migration agent ensure they are registered for example if they give UK Immigration advice they should be registered with the OISC in the UK.
In Thailand we have only two companies that are registered with offices in the UK/Thailand,in ASIA anyone can set an office up making false claims etc. Either do the application yourself or use an agent who has demonstrated proven ability with entry clearance applications. You can check their registration here for example mine is F200700163 http://oisc.gov.uk/.

Or short of business and looking to expand?

    http://www.thisisgrimsby.co.uk/cleet...l/article.html

    Interesting statement on here.. http://www.oisc.gov.uk/people_seekin...ration_advice/

It is a criminal offence for a person to provide immigration advice or services unless their organisation is registered with the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) or they are:

    - a regulated solicitor, barrister or legal executive (or European equivalent)
    - exempted by Ministerial Order

Is anyone committing a criminal offence by giving advice on here?

WRONG! The advice on this forum is based on actual experience. If you had taken the trouble to read the archives of the forum, you will see a high percent of our members have sucessfully got a visa for their Filipina girlfriends/wives/family. We are not qualified agents, we are an advice forum. Just like the MoneySavingExpert forum - they are not agents for anyone, they are a forum where members can dish out free useful advice based on their personal experience. Whether you accept that advice is up to you, but we do not give out inaccurate advice on this forum. If a member did give out wrong advice, I'll guarentee Joe, Dom, Pete, Darren, Iain and many others would be on hand with the correct information.

We can get all the information here for free...this is the main point of the forum.
Those who have used consultants, didn't find this forum in time.

You keep banging on about that.....

We do not charge for telling people about our own experiences, wether they want to follow our footsteps is entirely their own choice.

So, if you are unselfish and want to give free advice and guidance, without being officious, pedantic and patronizing, you are welcome and appreciated, if not, mind how you close the door behind yourself when you leave...

Seems like licensed immigration advisers aren't always to be trusted either...

"An illegal marriage operation run by a Government-licensed immigration adviser has been uncovered by a Sky News investigation.

Jayesh Patel was secretly filmed making a bogus marriage possible by supplying a groom from Slovakia to an undercover researcher from India whose student visa was about to expire.

Mr Patel advised the couple they could pretend they were living together by setting up bank accounts in joint names.

His fee for managing the operation and supplying the groom was £12,000."
