Members input, My checklist, do you think good enough for spouse visa app?

Ok all i wonder if you could give your input into my situation here, i am about to collect the below documents over the next month and apply for my wifes spouse visa before the new english rule comes in just in case she was to fail that! so better we do now I reakon! Ok we are going to apply with the following documents if you could give your idea if it would be sufficient, if not we will have to wait until next year.

6 months offshore bank account details, prob here is its had same amout of money in for some time and does not have money in out, around £15,000,
also philippines bank book with regular transactions, small amount in for monthly spends.

A 6 month tenancy agreement pre dated as we have been living together in the philippines for the past 2 years, 1 and a half of them married. So the landlord is going to make our contract to start from october 2010.

50/50 chance for me to get a offer of job letter, i am looking at it worse ways that the letter wont be available but there is a slim chance it may.

We have a 1 and half year old son with british passport so copys of his passport,

We have house and lot in the philippines which is now for sale so will explain this and ask for the visa to be issued with a 3 month wait to give us a chance to sell the house, if not we will have to rent it out.

As for proof we have many many photos of us together along with me having permanent residency in the philippines copys of all of that.

So what do you think? Is this enough to put in for us to go home? I really do need to get back for our sons sake of getting a good education, I really hope those who have time to reply to this please be honest and give your opinion and anyway you think we may stand a better chance based on what I have said so far...

    Thanks

tenancy agreement it should have at least six months before expiry.

you've got £15k in saving? then you could take the risk of applying, but its a bit of a gamble..

maybe better if you come to the uk on your own, find a job, get some pays slips as evidence that should increase your chances.

as for the job offer, is it a definate job offer ? becuase they may well contact the company.

you have to weigh up being apart for months or take the risk and go for it, know one can tell you your chances, but i do know people who have taken that risk and had savings similar to you and got their visa..

good luck with which ever you do thou

Thanks for your reply Joe, I have actually got 6 months bank statments with £60k , I am using 45k of that to purchase another plot of land in the Philippines which is why I put 15k on original calculation, but seeing as I have had the bank email me the statments already I guess it makes sense to use the 60k. Do you think that makes any difference though as it does not show me making a living the money has not been doing anything for a long time!
Also as we have our house on the market in the philippines we can also use that as part of our portfolio in assets, which if we cannot sell we shall rent at around 30,000peso a month, around £400.

I know its a gamble anytime, but does this make any difference?
    thanks

Good luck Alex , as for the english test i dont think thats going to any dramas for your wife mate , its based on the A1 scale which i think converts to a 7 year old , i have known your wife years and her english is heaps above that benchmark .

Good luck for ya mate as i am going through the same thing at the moment .

yes i would have thought so, the more cash you have the better

it shouldn't make any difference what the money is doing, as long as you have enough so your wife will not need 'recourse to public funds'.

yes its a bit of a gamble

if you have bank statements showing you've got £60k and your thinking of buying land for £45k then nows the time to apply while you have so much in the bank and showing on your bank statements,. remember you would need to explain any large deposits or withdrawals. with £60k showing thou i would take that risk.

your gambling £550-ish, even if your refused you have a right to appeal.

Thanks for the replys! I can say it certainly is a gamble and should they turn us down we for sure will appeal and i am pretty sure when they read that if i was to take our british son home to uk alone with myself i would not be able to work as i would have to look after him, 18 months old, so that would be a burden on the tax payer!

Hopefully it should all go well
thanks again for your input, have you applied yet matty?
