    Milkfish - Bangus

Anybody on here know of a fish that cooks and is similar to Milkfish or Bangus and is available in the uk?

Also any other fish used in the philippines and UK equivalents or similar!

Planning on going to hastings to get some fresh fish but not sure what might be a good choice.

There's bangus from some Filipino store but frozen.

Try Sea Bass which is similar to bangus.
Also try unbone Herring fish, we call that tamban in the philippines.
Mackerels which taste exactly the same as galunggong.
    Best for paksiw is Salmon.

Me and hubby will go on boat fishing again on sunday. We're both looking forward to catch more mackerels this time.

I always found using the glowing prawn rigs tipped with a little bait caught more than the feathers, but it depends how big the shoal is, and how stupid the mackarel are

Milkfish is available at Billingsgate fish market or a lot of Chinese cash and carry stores also stock it.
The cash and carry also stock dried fish but I always tell my wife I cant find them if I am with her

We have different baits boss, but sometimes it really doesn't work. Unlike last year, my rod has dozens of small feather like bait and it was fantastic!

They tend to go more for luminous baits, as it is these creatures that form most of their diet.... or just do it the Filipina way and spear them

Try smoked mackerel, it taste like tinapa..

I love octopus for kilawen and squid for adobong pusit.. you can buy them in morrisons..

I usually buy my fish from my Filipino friend. He delivers it at home. He's got frozen bangus, tilapia, galunggong, etc. I've ordered galunggong yesterday and will definitely cook it tonight.. yummy!

Look for the air vents entering their house and shove a few through the holes
