I am not trying to convert anybody and foreigners can not own land in the philippines so no gain there and I do not believe in God. It may well be the case that I pull out and let the children die.

Well, you have your own belief and go with it. I know it is the things that can make you happy.. You have a kind heart to look the people suffer and you help them of what you can do but as what I am said that we are human and as a human we are not satisfy of what we have and what we do .. but it is good to think for a simple way in life to eat three times a day even rice and fish as we use on it or even veges as long as we are together with the family we love... good for you that you think what is best just say good luck for your quest

Why will the children die? Families will just carry on as they always have.
I'm sure you have good intentions, but you wont be "saving" them.

I am just puzzled that you want to help the people and save their children but only on your terms.

Start by handing out condoms and teaching them how NOT to have kids, that'll save lives

    Excuse meeeeeeeeeee.....

Are you on the same planet as the rest of us...??

Where do you get those ideas from...???

It seems to me that you may be in need of some kind of proper directions.

You are implying that because I go fishing for food, or kill and dress the odd pheasant, helped in the past to butcher pigs, cattle and sheep, It makes me by default a killer of humans...???
    I take offense to that....

If you want to help poorer people than yourself, I find it very commendable, great and honorable, but don't put silly rules and covenants where there should be none.
Are you sure that you are not just wanting to have some kind of hold or power over them...?
It looks that way, to me. Do as I say or... off.....

Are you religious at all...??? If so, read your bible again....

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
(Mike, Keith, Bab, and all other atheists, this ain't a religious thread... I will find you one later....)

It is impossible to pay any household bills like water or electricity without any income. I have built one traditional house on the beach and intend to build three more beside and buy some nearby growing land for rice and coconuts. Hopefully this will help some but I have asked those involved not to eat any kind of meat or fish. I am hoping this idea can be extended so that many others can enjoy a safe and happy life without causing suffering to animals.
Do you know how many pigs will be inhumanely slaughtered every time you send rice field money? (Lechon for good luck)....Or how many chickens slaughtered to bless each foundation post of your proposed housing project?
Did you know that a goat has its throat cut every time a new fishing boat is launched for good luck?

I think your "friend in Surigao" is a scammer..By the looks of it a good one.
Either that or this thread is just another wind up!!

My Asawa told me she had bought a lion steak in the supermarket a few weeks ago.
I was horrified but felt so relieved and happy to see it was a loin steak

Pete, I am sure there would be many who would rightly call me a fool if as an animal rights, such as they are, supporter I helped those who ate meat. To answer the other gentleman's question, I am not religious nor do I have a hidden agenda or hope to gain anything.

I think you would be more suited to a place i have visited a few times in India and falls in line with your way of thinking, Rishikesh. Total ban on anything non vegetarian

During my second visit to the Phils, my wife's niece's husband invited me to partake of some python meat ... which I politely declined.

    suicide

I have read in a newspaper that some poor women from the Philippines go abroad to work but are treated badly and commit suicide. I find this upsetting and how can it be stopped?

1,000's are treated badly. Nothing you can do, it is part of being human to treat others as though they are a lesser life form.
