get visa or not???

hi! i was supposed to file my fiance visa this month but i learned from my fiancee that he might lose his job soon as there was an announcement in their company that they're having problems and the last number of employees will be losing their jobs by next month. my bf went back to uk last quarter of last year.. he was previously married in another country and settled with the ex til they divorced... he got his job 3 months ago, he owns a house, no children and living on his own... i am not dependent on him for all the expenses that i may incur in the 6 months "probationary period/temporary visa" because i believe that my savings would suffice til the time when i will be allowed to work.

the question is - should i get a visa now or wait til he gets another job? my other concern is that my son who's coming with me is turning 18 this december and i really wanted him to be with me as i have the "sole custody" papers to prove that he is dependent on me...

i am so confused.. hope to get your opinions on this.. thanks a lot!

if he is still working at this time, and may be working for a few more months , then i would try , you was ready to file the papers then go ahead

no one can tell you what to do, but if your ready to go with your visa then i would do it, he might not lose his job, and also the embassy probably will not contact his employer.

if you leave it and he does lose his job, you'll have to wait til he finds a new one

also as you've said you really need to get your son here b4 hes 18 , you could have problems here..

thanks for the immediate reply stevewool and joebloggs.. however, i would like to ask another question.. as ive said my son is turning 18 this coming december.... if i file my application in - let's say november, can he still join me to uk? or because the decision will surely come out on 2011, then he cant join me coz he's already 18... would u know the rules on this? many thanks!

sorry rani, i dont know the answer to that best to let someone advice you, but why wait so long to enter the visa

The trouble is, once he turns 18, he will not legally be a dependent, he will be an adult.

your right sim, under the UK immigration system when you turn 18 your an adult, but under the Euro immigration system your still a dependent til your 21.

i'm sure its when you submit the app and not when they grant the visa.

i think you should do it all ASAP, i think in theory if you get a visa for you and your son, and he is classed as your dependent what ever happens to you visa wise, also happens to your son even thou he's over 18 if hes still dependent on you (doesn't live an independent lifestyle, lives with you, doesn't work, is not married)

as he would be over 18 thou, you would have to pay 2 lots of fees for each visa,
