    sponsor's full copy of passport

    Hello Ladies and Gents!

I just want to share this information.

I phoned up the British Embassy today in manila as we were confused about what to do with my husband's passport. Someone told me that he needs to get his full copy of passport atested by a consul or a solicitor.
And that means he is going to pay a solicitor just for that? So we decided to phone the embassy to make sure.

I was told that we dont need to do that.
Its up to us but its not really necessary and they only follow what is in the guidance list.

Glad we found out otherwise he could have paid for unnecessary stuff....
I'm a cruel and heartless bitch but I’m damn good at it!

guidelines change over time, in the past you had to supply a certified copy of the picture page and any pages that had been stamped and i think depending on what your applying for, in some cases you do still need to send a certified copy.

but with electronic access to documents now reduces the need for certified copies.

anyway to throw a spanner in the works..

Evidence that your sponsor is settled in the UK. (This can be a copy of their passport or registration certificate that has been confirmed as a true copy, in other words 'certified')

but i dont think anyone has been refused for not sending a certified copy
