Welcome and welcome back respectively to the UK

Glad you had a safe journey, im sure your take some time to rest and adjust.

Then like all the rest of us who have been so lucky to be unite in the UK you will now be entering stage two sorting out all the paperworks for Jasmine. It seems complicated and frustraing at times, but with the help of this site you should have no problems

    Thanks guys
Jasmine is coping well, the cold was a bit of a shock but she is still keen to see snow and if we do have some, i think her enthusiasm will last all of 30 seconds
we took a couple of days looking around the local towns trying to find stuff familiar to her the only thing on the list we havent found is sour mango
next thing to sort out is a national insurance number as min would like to work i suspect this will involve more red tape than the visa
we did come across one problem at immigration when leaving manila because jasmine put teacher in the occupation part of the immigration card the officer wanted to see a form from her employer to say they gave her permission to leave and insisted that if she did not have it we would have to return to leyte to get it (i guess this like confirmation she is released from any work contract)
fortunatly the supervisor allowed us to fill out a new card and leave the occupation bit blank
good luck to any of you about to go through the same phase
    dave and jasmine

wow, need permission off your employer
    crazy, just crazy....
    why are things never simple
when you get married your wife should just be able to come here, no visa, no permisson no red tape, just show immmigration your marriage cert..
    but iam dreaming lol.

Getting a National Insurance Number is not just a formality, they want to see actual proof that she has been seeking employment such as "rejection letters". The easiest thing to do is wait till she finds a job and then apply.
