are you aware how many people get released without any kind out checks?
What are you saying? That a person who has served their sentence should be subjected to some type of pre-release test ? A kind of double jeopardy. And that maybe someone (who) would then be able to extend their sentence? I think you might get some opposition the that one.

Question: Who is Chris Brown ?

    Answer; The guy Moat killed.

im saying that when a prisoner whos about to get released, goes through a process to see that hes fit to survive in the real world.

like where will they live and their home life, how will they get money etc.....

they get released without any kind of help or support, why do you think so many reoffend?
i have learnt to do what my wife says!

    QUOTE:-

    Prisoners preparing for release

A prisoner may be asked to attend groups or courses to help them with any behaviour problems they may have, such as alcohol or drug abuse, gambling, financial pressures, depression, aggression or lack of temper control, or sexual matters.

Thus it would appear the pre-release program is solely to assist the prisoner not to assess their suitability to be released.

Pleased (I know you will) correct me if I am wrong.

I had a pretty tough, poor childhood, brought up in a bad area of London. Maybe thats why I became a police officer and served the public and why for the past 15 years I have been a voluntary translator assisting people in Spain, OR maybe it was because I was taught the difference between right and wrong and to respect others !!

The vast majority of people from poor, broken, disturbed backgrounds choose to obey the law and not become killers.

Making prisons harsher discourages repeat offending. Like I said in another thread if Moat had been in Singapore he would still be in jail now unable to sit down from the thrashing he was given as part of his punishment for assault. He would be facing ample time in jail to realise the error of his ways and the futility of breaking the law.

Probably for the same reason they offended previously and thus (eventually) got themselves locked up the last time !
