im sorry to hear that, i too was made redundant, i hope you get a job soon
what visa did you apply for?
i have learnt to do what my wife says!
yes that happened to me to, made redundant twice in about 16 months but i've just past being employed 2yrs in my current job , just hang on things will get better
why was you refused and what visa was it ?
hi alan so sorry to haer about the visa refusal what reason did they refuse
Cheers guys... gr8 support here on the forum!
We decided to take the chance and apply for tourist visa. Given the small fees it was worth a try. Refusal i guess similar to most.... lack of funds in her account and no employment!
Arlene went back studying a year ago but even letter from school didnt convince them, likewise that her son wasnt travelling.
Next plan is i guess to get married!!
sorry to ear that alan my gf was denied a tourist visa last november so we are now getting married this coming september in the phils
Sorry to hear that Alan please don't give up and take the opportunity to start again but this time there would be no reason to refuse her application.
Fiance or spouse visa would better.
Goodluck ! Cheer up!
visit visa, there is no consistency in them granting or refusing the visit visa, even if you had a job or savings many still get refused..
most of the time its pot luck, i think they throw app the apps in the air and catch a few, and those are granted and the rest get refused
guess i am one of the lucky person who was granted a visitor visa... but my bf lost his job yesterday too
shouldn't make people redundant on a Friday
good luck to those job hunting
the people who make the decisions dont care, when i got my letter about my redundancy it was xmas eve
i have learnt to do what my wife says!
that's a pretty darn callous way to tell you you've lost your job!
so sorry to here the news losing your job and the visa too , chin up and press on ,
Sorry to hear this...
Hope you find a new job and have the visa for your gf
Though you do not write books, you are the writer of your life. Because everything depends on YOU.
Thanks everyone for the support & wishes.
I know that Arlene & i are destined to be together and these are only small hurdles to overcome on our way to happiness!
Rgds to all
Sorry to hear your news Alan, I'm sure words of support are of no real consolation to you, but I'm sure you know you are among friends on here and we all wish you success in your future job hunting, and more importantly with your future visa application. I know how it feels to have your g/f's tourist visa turned down, my ex's was turned down for similar reasons about 3 months ago.
Stay positive, keep on smiling, it will all work out well for you in the end
Much Appreciated Englishman...
i was following your recent posts.
Hope you have a gr8 holiday.. If you decide on more of Asia other than Phils i can thoroughly recommend the islands of Malaysia!
Like others have said there doesnt appear to be sensible logic with all Tourist applications and find it hard to comprehend sometimes than the decision makers are quite short sighted in some ways.
Most of us know and understand the system today and are all not interested in making our G/Fs "overstay" but they are happier to direct us down the road of Fiancee or spouse.
Is this a money making scam? i dunno...
Is it fair that those of us genuinely wish our partners to visit the UK before deciding on our future are flirting with possible family and relationship breakdowns because they have eventually to live so far from home etc etc...
Again i dunno...
Sorry for the "rant".. and im sure there is content here for many more contentious posts........

Good luck mate .i hope we can do the same around Xmas or New Year!
Salamat Ate Penny,
yes i know it was an outside chance and now we hope to plan a wedding around Xmas or New Year in Bohol....
LOL
Sorry Alan, as I've said before, we're victims of the system, regarding the visa.
Have you ever thought of working for yourself?...Nobody can ever make you redundant again.
A TOUGH week for you, right enough, Alan. There's little I can add to what has been said here already ... except to say, I admire your "onwards and upwards" philosophy; ... things CAN only get better...!!! And I wish YOU - and all the others who find themselves in a similar situation - the very best of luck for the future.
Thanks Sim...much appreciated.Hope you and LadyBug are well.....
Arthur ..we are only here a short time so we need to take positives out of the negatives and learn from all the experiences thrown at us...
As i said it just means i will have to marry Arlene sooner.. heheheh which i hope will please here!
and im sure work will sort its self out in time!
Thanks again
Thats the spirit alan im sure if you keep a positive attitude work will surely arrive as you know im also getting married in the phils in sept of this year so any help or advice we can pass on to each other can only help us both good luck with your future plans
