    Tagalog Lessons

I will be getting tagalog lessons, once a week for 30 mins each week (I pay the tutor by giving guitar lessons lolz)

    ...

What I want to know is

-Does anyone have any recommendations for what I should learn??

(and before anyone says it ... "PIMo" ... No thanks --already know it .... walang bastos please)

I just want to know the usual things that people in manila would say every day

    Thanks in advance kayo!

Good luck James. I've renewed my interest in learning Tagalog now that things have changed for me. My ex didn't seem that bothered about wanting me to learn, but I have a new teacher and I've learned more in the last 2 weeks than I learned in the last 10 months

Dont worry about what they say in manila James.. Its the things you want to say or ask that you should be practising..
Write down whole useful sentences(not individual words) in English and have them translated as a Tagalog sentence..Commit to memory and you`ll start to crack the code.

James, what English words d'you want to be translated in Tagalog?

Try to think a few English words and I'll translate them for you for nothing..
    Some common Tagalog words are:
bumangon ka na--- you get up now!
Ano ulam natin ngayon? ---- what's our food today?
Naiihi ako--- i want to have a wee
Natatae ako-- i want to have a poo
Wala akong pera--- i have no money
Madami akong pera--- i have lots of money
Ako ay puti--- I am white
    Nauuhaw ako---I'm thirsty
Alis na ako-- I'm going (alis is going and ako is I'm)
    Busog na ako--I'm full
    Gutom na ako-- I'm hungry
Baha na naman--- it's flooded again
    Mabaho-- it's stinks
    Mabango-- smells nice

... i'm sure you have got the idea of the most so you better off to give me some English words and translate them for you
Taka care now & Bye!.... Venus

James, I can highly recommend the Rosetta Stone software as well, i've been learning Tagalog using that it's been very useful. I'm also concurrently learning visayan, and yes some things are similar, which can make it more confusing...

it must be really difficult to learn bisaya and tagalog concurrently! You're much brighter than I!

I'm tagalog but obviously you can't hear my accent and to be compared with bisdak. I say some English bisdak words sometimes and it's funny! :lol2:
Why are you rolling laughing when you said bisdak?
You need to do tongue exercise to stretch your tongue more and can say tagalog words a lot easier

you say some english Bisdak words sometimes? Huh? care to expand on that?

Laughing when i said Bisdak, coz usually, it's only Bisdaks who can understand that term ... plus, i realise, that in Manila, even if i hide, she gets the puti price, or the long-nose tax, coz they hear her non-manila accent, and decide to scam the out-of-towner lol!

What tongue exercises can i do? hmmm ...

i won't see the wife for another 2 months - if you're talking about that kind of tongue exercises lol
