I sympathise with you.The 'East Neuk' is not exactly known to be the warmest part of the UK - even in midsummer - as I remember only too well from my days at Boys' Brigade Camp in Elie between 40 and 50 years ago. Our camp was always held during the first week of July ... but it might as well have been December, because it was invariably freezing cold!
Remiss of the engineer ... not telling you he'd adjusted the timer ... but I'm glad to read that your Central Heating system is now "up and running again".
