Family Visit Visa denied but decision overturned

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share another experience related to visa application.

My sister has applied a Family Visit Visa June this year but after 2 weeks the decision came saying that her application is refused because the ECO is not convince that she will return to the Philippines at the end of her visit. I and my sister were saddened with this decision but since she is allowed to appeal, I decided to complete the papers and lodged the appeal for her here in UK. In other word, I acted as her representative.

It was the fourth week of July then when I received the letter from the UK Tribunal informing me that the "papers" were forwarded back to Manila for the ECO to review the additional documents I submitted, including the very long letter I prepared explaining things.

And finally, my sister emailed me today saying that that the decision was overturned so there's no need to appeal. She was advised to send her passport to the British embassy in Manila to stamp her visa, which she did.

I'm quite happy now and looking forward on seeing my sister soon.

This is excellent *news ... full marks to YOU for your efforts on your sister's behalf! I'm sure *it'll prove to be an inspiration to others who've found themselves in a similar situation. Have a lovely time together when she comes over.

    good news
but your sister should have appealed in Manila, you would have got the decision sooner
and always appeal as it doesn't cost anything, thou this might change soon

    it is a good news.
My family visit visa application was also refused on the grounds that I may not leave UK. Visiting husband to meet his family and friends. Settlement is not an option as we intend to stay in the Phils. So he will be moving this Spring 2011.
Anyway, we did the appeal and lodged it in the UK. My husband acting as my representative. Hope it will be overturned.
    Life as we make it
