Thats fair enough Mick and I doubt you will ever have anyone think you are being unreasonable..
Its a bit like our old building van on the way home from work. If anyone complained about the smoke we would simply pull over..to the nearest taxi rank, and let them out.

Due to health reasons, I have stopped smoking but cannot help missing it....

What Fred said happened to me once, a few years ago.

I was asked by my manager to give one of my colleagues a lift to one of the county shows downsouth, to save petrol money, ie expenses....
After less than ten miles from leaving the office I lit up and was confronted by a barrage of abuse from my colleague, all along the passive smoking lark and trying to suffocate him and deny him his human rights, bla, blah, blah....
So as the good samaritan I am, I went up the next exit on my route, which incidentally was junction 19 of the M6, southbound, and left him with his luggage by the side of the roundabout.

I never had a rollicking about it and never been asked again to give lifts....

"pull over..to the nearest taxi rank"

Thats what I like to hear

Seriously tho someone smoking in their own car has every right to do so

The point of Keith's thread was whether there was research to show if there was a safety issue, resulting in careless or dangerous driving

Well the headline read Should Smoking Be Banned in Private Cars?
Then passive smoking was mentioned, then the safety issue,I don't smoke myself but have been in smokers cars and their driving was fine

Les, I trust you and when I'm next in Harrogate ( a more affluent town than Scarborough ) I will be happy to be driven in your smoke-free taxi (but with substantial discount as a forum member and retired doctor ).
I think we're all agreed the evidence is there that passive smoking is a health hazard. What really is more difficult to answer is whether there is also evidence for smoking as a safety issue while driving.
