Most hospitals in the UK make something under 1% of their budget from car parking charges. The system is unfair, making a stressful time worse, and it's not uniformly applied ( mostly free in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland)

No, Alan ... both Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, and Perth Royal Infirmary operate *parking charges - even for staff [which is PARTICULARLY unfair!] - so NHS Tayside (for one) evidently hasn't scrapped *them.

I did say mostly free Arthur, to make my point and keep it brief, but you're quite right of course, there are so-called PFI (Private Finance Initiative) hospitals in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow which charge , and in Dundee cancer patients don't pay ! But this just highlights the lack of uniformity and total unfairness of charges which cause stress and at best save the taxpayer less than 1% of the NHS budget.
