Proud to be a filipino

Same with most countries, people look at the negatives and generalize a whole nation. I wouldn't take it too personally

you'll find a few people on here proud to be British, well maybe one or two

linked with the other thread about japs in the phils and the British Empire, I'm not defending anyone invading another country, but British did bring/leave some benefits to those countries, Democracy, legal system based upon the British legal system, police systems and civil services, free trade, protection.. etc

Just a note:
I posted the article "Proud to be Filipino' because I agree, that Filipinos are the friendliest, happiest, most generous people I know, so just because of a problem like the recent killing of tourists, which of course, every one is deeply sorry.......... It does not change the fact that filipinos should still be very proud.
