I know how you feel, i have been told I need to loose weight, but going hungry is a horrible feeling
You seem to be doing the best you can, what about light filling foods like pasta, but with that you have to be carefull about sauses used to make it worth eating!

You have a point Shrek, and of course the NHS should treat patients regardless of lifestyle factors which may have contributed to their condition. I can understand you've tried other methods of losing weight and assume you have no medical or psychological reasons for not having a gastric band.
As you know, there's a "postcode lottery", some Primary Care Trusts funding this treatment, and others not. There were only 4000 weight loss operations on the NHS last year (out of maybe 250,000 people who need and want this treatment).
There are two bits of good news for you. PCT's will soon lose their control of the budget to GP's. Secondly, the Royal College of Surgeons claims increasing anti-obesity surgery, such as gastric bands, by 25% could save taxpayers over 1million GBP in a year. This is because of the illness that obesity can cause, which of course you're aware.
So, good luck, talk to your GP or surgeon, and remember you can "choose and book" where you want your NHS surgery if available, and literally be patient
