Apart from the weather, this is a typical Sunday.
Gotta get the house cleaned up for the usual Sunday afternoon
get-together with 4 or 5 close friends.
When my wife has her Filipina friends over for a get-together - sooner or later the "beautiful" sounds of karaoke begin to careen around the house and ricochet off the walls -- no place is safe to hide.
Actually, many of the ladies sing very well, and they are very enjoyable
to listen to... however, for reasons unknown to me those who cannot
carry a tune in a bucket constantly steal the mic from the good singers
and shriek away for 50% of the time.
Ever since I lived in Japan I am addicted to karaoke.
I may not be the best singer but the good news is karaoke singing releases endorphins!
Those are the "happy hormones" that make us feel good!
Additionally, karaoke singing releases stress and tension, and helps exercise the lungs.
Over recent years I have spent quite a lot of money upgrading
our karaoke system.
Our current one is Magic Sing ED11000. Twin wireless mics, base unit with slots for 10 song chips and remote control.
We use it a lot, especially relaxing on a Sunday afternoon.
If you are a fan of karaoke, I have some information.
On my last visit to Philippines I was browsing the many electronic
shops and came across the Midi-karaoke DVD player.
I was intrigued and asked the salesman to explain.
These machines play DVD’s with Midi-Karaoke plus plays nearly all other DVD’s & CD’s, they come with remote control and song book plus mic (not a good mic!) additionally you have a choice of 5 different video backgrounds which can be switched from the remote at any time.
The biggest attraction (for me) was that the included DVD that came with 79,000 songs and 500 MTV videos!! All the very latest songs and MTV were included. (Philippine favourites and western pop)
Eventually I asked him how much.
When he told me the whole package was P1200 (less than £20 at todays exchange rate) I just went ahead a got it.
Cheap looking, with loads of lights... BUT..... nice !
Your wife will love it forever if you buy her one.
My machine has the name MASS.
The model is M-8510. No info as to who makes or where!
It is just a Digital DVD player & Midi-Karaoke and has 2 mic inputs and USB.
Has score karaoke, background scene selection Dolby Digital etc.
Plays just about any CD/DVD with auto NTSC/PAL selection.
The sales guy said it plays Blu-Ray but I never tried (I don’t have any)
Power input is 90v-240v 50Hz/60Hz
Weight is 2.6kg. Dimensions 463mmx90mmx274mm
I could easily bring it back to UK in my suitcase.
Downside is that the mics are not wireless (unlike the magic sing
ED11000)
Karaoke is great fun and a great party piece.
Personally I find it also helps me to improve my Tagalog vocabulary and
Pronunciation.
Get one. Be happy. Be healthy.
