    Hi Meca,
If the baby is born in the UK, then it is automatically a British citizen, therefore entitled to a British passport. As for when a baby is able to travel, I have read on certain websites that it can be from about 1 month old, but they do say to ask a doctor, just to make sure. I am only going on what I have read though, so maybe someone else can give you definate information about it.
    Congratulations on the pregnancy too.

That is correct for the USA but not the UK.

If you were born in the United Kingdom to parents who are not British citizens and are not legally settled here

Even if you were born in the United Kingdom, you will not be a British citizen if neither of your parents was a British citizen or legally settled here at the time of your birth. This means you are not a British citizen if, at the time of your birth, your parents were in the country temporarily, had stayed on without permission, or had entered the country illegally and had not been given permission to stay here indefinitely.

But in this case the baby will be British

If you were born in the United Kingdom on or after 1 January 1983, you are a British citizen if at the time of your birth one of your parents was:
    • a British citizen; or
    • legally settled in the United Kingdom.

Yes a child born in the UK to a parent who is a British Citizen or 'Settled'(means a resident in the UK and has the right to abode, holds ILR,citizen of an EU/EEA and has permanent residence) is automatically a British Citizen by birth and can get a British passport.

My boy first travelled to to see his grandparents in the Phils when he was 2 months old, AND had his own (British) passport.

I also got 'recognition' status for him in the Philippines, so now he can stay there for as long as he wants without a visa, as he's considered a Filipino citizen too.

    Here's his first passport pic.
