Money Transfer to Philippines

Hi has anyone had any problems with fees charged when sending funds to Philippines using BelwoodUK - Recently sent funds to Manila - Door to Door Charges £9 although their Website shows £8 - Ninety Four Pesos is a lot of money for some families in the Philippines - when I complained ...answer back was ..... charges have been £9 since January although website still shows £8 Door to Door too Manila. When I complained - all I get in reply "will get my comp expert to change"

Anyway found a better service which If I had known about before I could of saved a small fortune in Fees by now.

Xoom door to door is a brilliant service and the best thing it cost me less than £3 to send the same amount of money. My inlaws received their funds within 48hrs of sending ... so if anyone wants reliable cheap money transfer provider you cant get any better than https://www.xoom.com good luck

I have been using Xoom for the past year without problems,
extremely reliable and quick. Although I rather send the money straight into Jet's account. It costs a couple more quid. But at least, the neighbours don't see the courier and the money... Better safe than sorry.

Not sure if you are aware under the new taxation rules introduced by the money grabbing ******* G***** but monies sent from abroad is now counted against Income ... if as I suspect their is a paper trail re depositing in Bank Accounts ... not sure what your gains are when you can so easily send door to door ... just a thought ... hmm i remember Zoom, it may not be best way at all.
they offer US$ 1.00 = PHP 47.3984
while pnb its 48.10

with zoom the more your sending the more you have to pay, and also the lower php to £ rate.

while pnb I think you pay £5 for up to a £1000 transfer, and and a better php to £ rate.

so i dont think zoom is better at all

Ok I guess your talking about the Philippines National Bank - the only draw back if you use this service - All deposits (which is now classed as source of Income) is reported to the IRS - and is set off against Income if you are Pilipino living abroad - which when you make the next visit under new revenue laws - you are obligated to fill in a tax return form and declare all Income if you are still classed a Citizen of the Philippines - and they will have records of all revenue wired into the Philippines? if you use the Banks as a conduit for money transfers

Are so thats why the money is sent in my name lol. I thought it was just the missus had bought to much in primark for the big return later this month.

Personally we use a mixture of xoom, western union (the money is there asap when cost isn't the biggest worry) and a company called phillrem who are very good, although best to get the tagalog speaker to deal with them as when i have had to speak to them on the phone the wires can get crossed.

Do you have any more details of the new tax regulations? On this trip back im hoping for a nice hassle free trip no visa/embassy/cfo/nso/dfa/abc just jollibees,kfc and atc

My wife's Auntie works IRS - I'll ask my wife to phone later today for info ... now when I mentioned phoning a thought came over me .......

One of the biggest expenses for us Husbands are the phone calls back home which is a must if you want sweet harmony to prevails.

My phone bills use to run into the hundreds on a monthly basis then a Godsend came along - I signed up for Orange Broadband £19.99p package and one of the perks was unlimited 24/7 phone calls to 100 International Countries - and YES the Philippines was one of the Countries on the List - I had a friend calculate 1 month of calls recently - to my surprise if the calls had not been free ... the bill was estimated at £12,003.00p wowww ... now one word of caution as I have told me wife - I would temper your usage since I am sure there is a fair usage policy lurking in the background .. but I cannot see any problem spending 2 hrs day on the phone to the Philippines --- a tip .. disconnect after 1 hour and re-dial ... so if this info is useful log onto orange website .. if you need any more help signing up let me know - happy chatting

Your friend isn't very good at maths, 2hrs a day * 31 days, convert to minutes, and multiply by the average price fo 11p/min, you get £409.20.....but if you install Skype/Yahoo...etc at the other end, it's free.

I guess you did not read my reply - when my wife 1st found out about the free calls she practically spent most of the day talking to family and friends in the Philippines - the 2hrs day is only my suggestion - and 11p min to the Philippines - where can you get that rate for daytime calling - hope that clarifies the calculations

Correct me if I am wrong AGAIN - to use Skype talk to the Philippines you need at least a DSL connection to have any chance of a decent conversation unless you are used to talking in a echo chamber - same applies to Yahoo - I have used Skype from the onset but I have yet to find anyone using it succesfuly too the Philippines.

Not sure what the incentive in participating in forums like this - when the daggers appear when in reality if you take the time and read my post you will find my initial remarks were infact correct.

I have been living in and out of the Philippines for the last 18 years - I would of thought given the experience and expertise I have in the Culture of the Philippines and also being married to a Pilipino and settled here in UK - your Forum would welcome me with open arms to the advice and knowledge I could inpart too your members - but instead I am castigated for what I believed to be factual remarks I posted - well If you don't want my participation just say so and I will gladly give my time to a more worthy cause -

08717729595 You forget to calculate the charge that BT or whoever is your provider makes for the 0871 connection. When I 1st saw the Website I thought the initial bill was for the 0871 connection and thereafter whatever the website charged for the call. Until I got my BT bill - the charges also applies per min basis for the 0871 - on a daytime call in excess of 15p/min (incl tax) plus 9p/min = 24pmin

the money goes to epci-davao. its the next day (at 3pm), i think they close around 6-30pm, but at the weekend it doesn't make it until tuesday, i guess they wait until monday for the actual transfer.

avington - the rate I quoted was off my t-mobile bill. thats it, no extra charges. at home you can obviously use free services, but for mobile-mobile thats probably the best rate around.

now I need to try & sort out my pc.. its got W32/Vanebot-M

yes i know about orange, maybe i'll go with orange just for the calls, iam on bulldog 8mb connection unlimited,cost me £40 a month ! , as i download a lot but i tihnk orange have a fair usuage policy, and if its anything like tiscali its not unlimited, and i dont know how they get away with advertising it as so.

my wife calls a 0871 number and i think is 7 or 8p a min, and that what it cost a minute, so when people question your comments. they are not laughing and attacking you. but what my bill shows, what ever the length of the call is times 7 or 8p a min.

thanks for the info . but iam english not a filipino, i send money every month to my wifes aunt thru pnb europe to her pnb bank account in laguna. so its just a straight money transfer from branch to branch. would this effect my wifes aunt ? it cannot effect my wife thou ?

sorry forgot to ask, I've looked at some reviews of orange boardband, and most people are complaining about being cut off, slow speeds, poor customer service, how are you finiding orange? also i think you didnt mention you still have to pay monthly line rental + £19.99 ??

According to the Orange T&C you are allowed 2GB's per month fair usage. I downloaded 80GB's in January on the Plusnet & BT Business services , now they are UNLIMITED . TalkTalk gives you 30GB's for £20/month, and no one I know has had any problems. Orange phone calls are to landlines only in the Phil, otherwise it is 10p/min.

i think orange have 2 pacakges, the 'unlimited' -*FAIR USAGE one is £19.99 a month, it does saythat they dont want you to use p2p btw thier peak times of 6-11pm. or u get ur legs slapped, apart from thats its UNLIMITED

i dont download 80gb, maybe 60gb a month thou . its amazing how much bandwith and how much you download looking at womens weekly and gardening world online

08715706250 is the number we use . I am with T-mobile on contract and when phoning the Philippines it cost about 10p and I use my free minutes as the call goes. Hope that helps
