    Forum *****

I consider myself a 'Forum ****', because I post on several different forums. One one of the forums thats along a related theme, I often come across expat members from here. However on a completely unrelated forum I stumbled across a member from here today. Which got me thinking, how many other forum slags are there here?

These are the forums I'm a member of and post on from time to time. Most of them I have post counts of around 20 - 60 total posts. My missus thinks that I'm addicted to FilipinoUK. I use aliases on some forums, and my real name on others like here.

I'm sorry if I've offended anyone with the word s l u t, now exchanged with * * * * which changes the whole meaning. I didn't realise it was such a naughty word!

FilipinoUK is the only forum I'm an active member...I used to be in www.pinoysg.com when I was actively searching for a place to stay in Singapore while working there 2 years ago but after that, I stopped going in that site..but if you're into forums Ricky, I'm into social networking sites..well I used to be active actually.. I have accounts in Facebook, Friendster, Multiply, Yahoo360, MySpace, Hi5, Wayn, and I can't think if there are others.. but I've deleted the accounts and just active in Facebook and retained Multiply (for Havaianas online shopping now) and Friendster (just because others still have an account there)...

I must be one too Ricky.

I used to use about 5 or 6 different fish forums ( I am a tropical fish freak, but specialise with Discus fish) Different forums from over the globe, many had members I knew from other places, but each forum with it's own personality. Now I just use 2 fish forums, one in Austrailia and the other Singapore.
I think you end up slotting into the one you feel most at home in, like here for instance.

i don't have time to go on any others nor do i need to

i've got some 'friends' on here that hopefully i'll met someday and dont need to go else where

Hmm, I'm a tropical fish person too.
Used to be a judge, and had my own shop for a few years.

Last long stay in Phils (2 years) I bred birds for sale and built aviaries for expats, plus also bred some fish.

I am also a judge Graham for my species of fish. In fact I was in Singapore doing my course whwn I met my Asawa. I hope when I settle in Phils I can set up a nice system.

I'm also only a member of this forum. I have no need or time to join any others, but if I did, a user name like "Not_Doc Alan" might be recognized !

As you may have noticed from my post stating BM's, I am a member of a few forums, the main one I go on, I have a post count of above 2000. But they are just for fun. I feel that due to my circumstances now though, that this will be the main one for the forthcoming future.

Steve and Graham..I used to keep marine fish in the UK but the hobby almost bankrupted me!!
Im planning a new setup here in the P.I and as I have access to fresh seawater, fish and live rock etc which will basically cost me nothing it should be more easily sustainable this time..

I am finding this forum addictive. If I can't get my daily dose I get withdrawal symptoms.
This is now the only forum I make contributions.
I sometimes dip into others but not often.
Some years ago I used to be a member of a Phils forum with mostly USA members. I soon lost any motivation to contribute due to so much political back-biting and inane comments about spelling and gramatical correctness.
This forum is diverse and very friendly. I feel comfortable.

Yes....don't need heaters out there either, and can catch your own breeding stock.

I never kept marines for that very reason Fred. Mind you, what I pay for water is criminal. I have to use RO water on my 2500ltr system for my Discus, with 80% water changes every 3rd day. If I do this when I get to Phils seeing we have our own water supply, I can waste as much water as I like with no heating costs lol.
I'd love to see your setup once you're done

Ive already done a deal with local fishermen.. Any fish I want including anemone`s ,live rock etc etc for one bottle of Tanduay junior..22.00 Pesos each.
Only thing I need to source from Cebu is lighting which might get a bit pricey..

Damn..80% in 3 days!! Thats what I call a labour of love..
Im trying to design a large protein skimmer which sits inside a huge concrete sump holding a refugium and trickle filter to avoid those huge water changes..
When its done and you are here in R.P,pop in.. I`ll buy you a few beers and we can stare at the tank for a couple of hours.

I was on forum of 'britishexpats.com' but when I did not agree with one of the moderators about legal requirements for Brits living Spain I was banned.

In my view ( I am of course biased) I only posted stuff which was intended to assist people with their problems.

By banning me the moderator was depriving others who needed help because he did not want to admit that his advise was wrong.

Thank goodness we have a far more mature approach on this grown up forum and thanks to our moderators for being real people, who do such a good job.

Bliss ............. its a deal Fred

You know one of my best friends is a guy called Andrew Soh, he is an aquatic guru and lives in Singapore. He has published a couple of world renound books all about Discus and now flies all over the world to hold seminars and judge fish. In his early career he made his name developing several different strains of Guppy. A real good guy to know when you have a problem.

Funnily enough my lifelong interest in aquaculture probably goes back to when I lived in Malaya and Singapore as a child.

We were brought some 'tropical fish' home by my parents and just kept them in a tank as pets, but I can clearly remember each type of fish to this day.

What made the biggest impression upon me though were the ('ornamental') fish farms close to our house. These were producing freshwater tropical fish for the pet trade, though I didn't really realise it at the time...just fascinating for a nosey little kid.

Also probably accounts for my taste in women, come to think of it....I mean the Oriental ones I encountered there.

Well I did try to bring it back on topic with the Oriental ladies.

Even as a 7 year-old I was well-impressed by those cute Chinese and Malaysian girls.
