Our annulment is dragging on. Right now we seem to be having a hearing every month - at least 6 so far. Anyone know if this is normal? Everyone says the case is as straight forward as it gets. No disputes. No problems.

Lawyers fee is fixed, but there are court fees.
based on my annulment case, i only attended one hearing and the case was granted after a year... lawyer fee was packaged, which includes acceptance, hearings, psychiatrist, red tape etc.![]()
It really depends on the court, some courts have better procedures in place. For my missus annulment there was only one Judge in the court, and you would arrive at 8am on the day, and would sit with all the muggers, rapist and criminals until you had your turn, and would get 15 minutes and then be told to continue next time. The next earliest hearing was 1-2 months afterwards. The whole process took 2 years, and again was fairly straightforward. Now we are still processing all the paperwork. If you have no-one contesting the case, you can perform the annulment through one of the courts that will do things fairly fastrack. We however had 'extension request' for the initial hearing by the opposite party, so the lawyer decided to do things at the local court in case it was questioned why didnt use that in the first place.
So, basically, it all depends on which court.
Hi Ian,
my gf annulment finished July this yr, filed March 2009.......I believe she only attended 3 times .
took ages for the first hearing to be held.............its a pain mate but hang in there![]()
Looks like a lot of variation! RickyR my situation sounds exactly like yours. I think it would be risky now to transfer to another court. She seems to attend every month, but has been told no hearings in December / January. Lawyer fee is fixed. Court fees vary but generally around 1,000 pesos per hearing. Her case was slightly delayed while the court tried to track down her husband - probably took them about three months.
I will stick it out - but have offended gf as I have asked her to send me receipts. I am mainly just nosey as to what they think the hearings are for.
Hi Ian,
I can see your girlfriend might be a bit offended but you are entitled to know what is happening and what your money is going on, I would want to know too.
