Hmmm, maybe I'm turning into a boring, miserable old git, but Saturday night TV is generally rubbish! Pop Idol, X-Factor, Strictly Dancing, Britain's Got Talent, etc.... all cr@p!I really can't work out why those programs are so popular.

Back in the 1960s, the evening began at 6.30ish with 'Dixon of Dock Green' ... followed by some Variety Show or other - featuring artistes of real talent! Next, it was time for a good ol' fashioned Western - like 'Wagon Train' - starring [among others] the late, great Hoagy Carmichael
(who [then] must've been somewhere around the age I am, now!)
And, to round-off Saturday nights' entertainment, there was usually a half-decent film ... often a thriller ... all programmes, of course, being in black & white in those days!!
