You can relate to this! Don't pretend you can't! :-)

You wake up late! Oh hell your late for work! Oh gosh they're going to be so angry with you at work! Gosh I better get a move on! Where are my clothes? I haven't got time for this! Where's my wallet? Where are my keys? I better find them keys quick I'm in such a hurry now! Maybe they're on that shelf in the kitchen? But I doubt it! I suppose I'll spend half the morning looking for them and then I'll be seriously late! You look on the kitchen shelf, drat they're not there! I just knew I'd have a terrible day today, I'm going to turn the house upside down until I find those keys! And so there you are, looking under things, throwing clothes across the room saying where are my keys? Where are my keys? Maybe I did leave them in the kitchen? Oh this is silly! I need to calm down! You walk back in the kitchen and you notice your keys ARE on the shelf after all. And you think to yourself, "That's funny.. I'm sure those keys weren't there earlier!"

    *******************************

Whats happened here is that you woke up late, if that wasn't stressful enough you couldn't find your clothes! Then you were anxious about where your keys were? You convinced yourself that you would have a stressful morning searching for your keys!

And so you DID have a stressful morning searching for your keys! You attracted it that way!

***Here comes the mindblowing bit!!! ***

When you first looked at the shelf in the kitchen, the keys were INVISIBLE in your perception. You attracted it this way because you firmly believed you would have a stressful morning searching for your keys. It was only when you started to calm down that the keys became visible again.

What I'm trying to convince you of here is that whatever you think, whatever you believe...YOUR RIGHT!!!

And I hear you cry "Don't be silly how can the keys be invisible and then visible again?"

If a second person happened to be in the kitchen at the time, they would have seen the keys, but you would have not! YOU created the "I can't find my keys scenario" in advance with your mind, you attracted it, and so, in your perception, the keys WERE invisible!

Now I'd like you to watch this video clip, the guy sitting on the bed has been hypnotised into believing his friend is invisible, and you can tell by the guys reactions that in his perception, his friend is indeed invisible!

nope nigel, whether I'm early or late, 99% of the time i put my keys in the same place all the time, and 99% of the time they are always there, and the only time i can't find them is when someone has moved them or because i put them somewhere else

his friend is not invisible thou, so if my keys have become invisible, are they invisible at the same time to my wife ?

    Oh gawd!

I'm saddened that you guys wont even open your mind to the possibilty..

Some believe that it's possible to:

First, hypnotise a person into believing an object in the room is invisible! And indeed, in their perception the object is invisible!

    (stay with me)

Then, place a watch or a newspaper BEHIND the supposed invisible object, and ask the hypnotised person if he can read it.

There are some who believe the hypnotised person CAN indeed read whats behind the supposed invisible object, the hypnotised person can 'peer through it' and observe something behind it.

There are no videos on youtube demonstrating this theory though..

So I've no idea what to make of that...

LOL, I don't know about self hypnosis when you're panicking and looking for keys, but I do believe in hypnosis. One of my favourite Jesuits in the PI is Fr. Bulatao. He's a well-known hypnotist and he was the head of the Ateneo de Manila Psychology Department (retired now). It still gives me the heebie-jeebies thinking of the things he did during a talk I attended. Really cool, but hard to believe it was a priest doing it. Then again, the Jesuits are pretty open about things other priests would scoff at.

Done this once when I lost my glasses. I looked everywhere, at home, in the car, in the office, at the bar then found them, they were right in front of my eyes!

    Stated in an earlier post:

First, hypnotise a person into believing an object in the room is invisible! And indeed, in their perception the object is invisible!

    (stay with me)

Then, place a watch or a newspaper BEHIND the supposed invisible object, and ask the hypnotised person if he can read it.

(There are some who believe the hypnotised person CAN indeed read whats behind the supposed invisible object, the hypnotised person can 'peer through it' and observe something behind it.)

I've done a bit of reading on internet about this "peer through the object" speculation. Most people believe that the hypnotised person "fills in the blank" their own mind will "paste in" what's expected to be there (presumably the walls of the room?) this seems more likely to be what is happening in the hypnotised persons perception, this seems to be right!

Fine ... always supposing the hypnotised subject is close enough to the newspaper to ! But what if his/her distance vision - even with - isn't good?

, Nigel ... guess I'm in grave danger of becoming inured with the "yeah, but ..." mentality of my son-in-law - a physics teacher And you know what scientists can be like when it's anything theoretical!

I've not watched the last vid you posted Nigel but if you are invoking the double slit wave particle duality demonstration, then I guess you are implying that your keys have a quantum probability of not being exactly where you think they should be which is true except that at the scale of something as large as a set of keys quantum decoherence will make them pretty real and pretty much nail them to the place you left them.

For quantum mechanics to play a part in the temporary vanishing of your keys the entire set of keys i.e. every particle in the set of keys would have to be simultaneously at an extremely improbable energy state.

Applying Occam's razor to the problem of your keys, it requires one to jump through many many hoops to explain your inability to see them as a result of them not being in their usual energy state, on the other hand it's not to hard to explain that people can suffer from stress related blindness, many many experiments have shown that we only perceive an interpretation of the world, which is in part your point.

And yes I can relate to it and I have experienced this many many times, be it wallet, keys, passport or some important paper or other.

Another extremely good explanation for this phenomenon is a hangover

It was Aristotle who maintained that it was the mark of an instructed mind to rest satisfied with the degree of precision which the nature of the subject admits and not to seek exactness when only an approximation of the truth is possible.

    I wholeheartedly agree!!

I'm just trying to convince people the magnetic nature of our minds, that the content of our minds brings a likewise experience! The more you imagine life is bad, the more bad it will be, the more you imagine life is good, the better it will be!

I'm convinced there is nothing physical about me, and nothing physical about what I'm experiencing! It's all mind, mind, mind, I'm sure of it...

Please accept my apology for this flippant response.
    But....

Do you know why quantum physicists are so poor at sex?

Because when they find the position, they can't find the momentum, and when they have the momentum, they can't find the position.

Well at least it's still on topic.

I only know two jokes about drummers
Hope you can relate to them, as I know you're a closet drummer.

What's the difference between a drummer and a savings bond?
One will mature and make money

An amateur drummer died and went to heaven.
He was waiting outside the pearly gates when he heard the most incredible fast and furious drumming coming from within.
Immediately he recognized the playing and rushed to ask St. Peter if that was Buddy Rich playing drums inside the gates. St. Peter responded:
"No, that's God. He just thinks he's Buddy Rich

    No offence intended to anyone.
