Thanks for the reply. I just have this confusion when I went to our Local Civil Registrar (LCR)in our city halll, to ask for requirements to marry a foreigner. They gave me this requirements.

    1. certificate of legal capacity to contract marriage from his diplomatic or consular in the Philippines.
    2. divorce decree/decree of annullment
    3. passport
    4. birth certificate
    5. pre marriage counselling certificate
I hope my understanding is right that they want my fiance to apply the legal capacity in the Philippines and they will not honor the CNI issued in their country. As i know that when you apply here in the Philippines it takes about 21 days to release. Im just afraid coz my fiance will have 1 month to stay here and cant take so long because of work back in Belfast.so scared to think that we might be in a rush and just waiting for 21 days and another 10 days for the marriage license and schedule our wedding.
I remember I read some informations in the website of foreigners marrying here in the Philippines and about this certificate of legal capacity.
I hope somebody can share me what they can think about the scenario.

    thanks again.

Hi again febmary, he has to get a CNI from his local civil registry, it will be posted for 21 days before the registry will release it. This then will be presented to the UK Embassy here in the Philippines. The embassy will give him the CNI (Philippine Version) on the following day that you have applied for it. Just tell your LCR that you're marrying a British not an american. So it has to be a CNI not a certificate of legal capacity. they have different names but they serve the same purpose.
