Lightbulb Independent Chief Inspector of UK Border Agency.

There has been plenty of posts recently concerning the turnaround targets and operating procedures of UKBA

For those who have an interest (and the time!), this website offers a detailed insight into the official inspections of the 'workings/processes/targets/business plans etc of the UKBA:-

    http://icinspector.independent.gov.uk

From this website you can negotiate to a large resource of information.

Although it may not be useful in providing detailed answers to the specific questions of forum members, it can certainly provide some very interesting information.

As an example, there is an inspection report on the Visa Section in Kuala Lumpur (and Singapore) :-

    http://www.ociukba.homeoffice.gov.uk...ala_lumpur.pdf

There is also information on UK centres.

    Happy reading!

Another Quango - John Vine the Independent Chief Handwringer is trousering a salary of £185,000 - £189,999.

Their "Stakeholder Engagement" seems to revolve around chairing a "Refugee and Asylum Forum" whose participants are from groups of do gooders pandering to bogus asylum seekers eg Immigration Law Practitioners' Association and Scottish Refugee Council http://icinspector.independent.gov.u...ember-2010.pdf - they debate things like whether asylum seekers should be referred to as "customers" and what term the UNHCR uses to describe them. Theres also a bit of collective handwringing over dawn raids causing "retraumatisation" Personally I'd have thought UK Taxpayer was a fairly big "Stakeholder" but as one would expect he doesn't get a mention.

I'll have a look, but earlier this year I posted the Inspection Report for Manila which gave some good guidance. I'll check through some old posts later.

    Ricky,
This would be very useful if you could tell us where to find this Inspection Report for Manila - couldnt see it when I did a search.

I read a lot of the KL & S'pore reports and it was useful although a lot of their applications are student visas not marriage settlement.

    Thank you very much
    Alfie
