There's plenty of advice on these forums re the costs and mechanics of sending £'s to PI (just do a bit of searching) but remember Rule 1 - Don't send money to someone you haven't met

It depends how much you want to send and how regularly. If you are only sending £30 or £40 then Western Union are your easiest option. They'll charge you £4.90 (if the amount is under £50), and skim a few peso's off the official exchange rate, but the money will be ready to collect in the P.I's in about 15 minutes.

If you want to send a large amount, ie, thousands or a regular monthly amount, you'd be better looking at the specialist currency /FX brokers (not your bank or local Travelex). The FX dealers all work slightly differently, some may charge you a small fee per transaction, whilst others may charge you a one off setting up/membership fee. You usually get the best rate of exchange from one of these companies as they only take a minimal skim from the official rate and are sometimes up for a bit of negotiation.

I'm happy to recommend these people, http://www.baydonhillfx.com/ I've been using them for about 5 years on various overseas property transactions and have so far been very happy with the service.

As already stated - Don't send money to a girl you haven't met yet, there are lot's of scammers out there preying on the generosity and sympathies of rich and gullable westerners. Some of the sob stories are very convincing, but don't be taken in.

Use the search, there are lots of threads on sending money. Personally, I use PNB Europe and have an account in my town in Phils and transfer in seconds. Each to their own.

But like has already been stated, use caution, be sure you know who you are sending to, why you are sending it, and proof it is being used for the requested purpose. As Englishman said there are people quite happy to prey on rich, and like me poor westerners!!

Thanks for this info, however, with the collapse recently of one such company, I have tried to check out what insurance guarantee the company have. There is none shown on the web site.

I have emailed them asking that question and also what the total charges are for a transfer. I will report back.

I wouldn't wait up for an answer - they sound like a bunch of shysters operating from an ansaphone and accomodation address. Their Mickey Mouse website shows their e mail contacts as

    Support: support{at}allmoney{dot}co{dot}uk

    General: info{at}allmoney{dot}co{dot}uk

    Management: avet{at}allmoney{dot}co{dot}uk

Why don't you use your contacts in Scotland Yard and get the Money Laundering Squad to check them out ?

This was why I looked at the company. I have not received any reply so far !!!!!

I have now made the transfer in Pesos by SWIFT, through Nationwide, to BPI, Cost £25 with expected 3 to 5 working days to arrive in RP. I will post what rate I got and details of any other charges.

    We use iremit.
The exchange rates are very good.
    Service charge OK
Normally we just take cash to Barclays bank and make the deposit, iremit receive immediately (also Barclays). Then phone to iremit to inform them where to transfer the Peso. Next day it's there.

They also do internet transfers, but I've never done it

    For UK look here:-

    For Spain look here:-

I started using Orbitremit.com to send money to the Philippines to pay for the wedding. only £7 service charge each transaction and get a much better rate than every bank. Also you can send to the person or to the Bank account.

Its a nightmare to set up though sending a scanned copy of your passport saying it is certified true by someone of authority. This is for security checks.

If whoever is picking up has a bank account, then bank to bank is better but as i found out not all people do. kind of taken for granted of that here in the UK.

To he quite honest, why bother going with an unknown risky source, when there are so many used and verified methods ??

You can use different remittance company in UK, charges are much cheaper than sending it by SWIFT or IBAN...There's PNB in UK, I've been using PNB for years now, you can send by dropping by 'n their branches / by phone or by online..and if your beneficiaries have PNB accounts your money will be transfered 'n seconds.
