Superstitions and why its best not to leave the house after dark.........

I was sitting on the PC several nights ago, surfing for nothing in particular when I heard the gentle flip....flop....flip....flop of tsinelas outside the house approaching the front doorI can see the insect-screen from the periphery of my vision and theres no one there(not surprising as its after midnight)the footfalls had also stopped abruptlyBarefoot I pad over to the front door and look outside scanning the garden and trees, absolutely nowt, zip, nada, the dogs still kipping
I always knew pinoys as an uber-superstitious lot but I related the story to a mate and he told me of his uncle,a farm-worker who several years ago had walked home at midnight, passing a balete he found himself staring face-to-face with a sigbin
He ran screaming never daring to glance behind and threw himself through the quickly opened sanctuary of a neighbours front door, local legend tells of a rice-jar planted at the base of the balete(a sigbins favourite home).
The guy still has the shoes he wore that night, with the charcoal encrusted teethmarks where it nipped at his heels,I am sitting here scared to go out tonight, this place is scary what with Sigbins, mananangals, tiktik, kapre and whatnot Paradise has nasty surprises for the unwary

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

The most superstitious place for cryptozoological creatures was Siquijor,I first visited it around 20 years ago when their were no vehicles on the island except motorbikes and scooters, creepy place back then, totally different nowadays
I have ginger on the windowsills here and a huge dried/mummified stingray tail under the bed to ward off aswangs,it certainly works and I can endorse it 100% as I havent been carried off by one yet

Living here in the Philippines you can have lots of things to learn and knows around you. You dont know if the people or person beside you is one of them as what i told it to Sim... since we are a kids and at this age we believe superstitions but it is depend on how you discovered. He is not believing me before but when he try to sleep or do sleep here in my boarding house and at night i told him to listen the sound so he hear it and said be quiete

Our neighbor here when she is preggy cant sleep at all night coz of the noisy tiktik early morning she put the branches of pomilo and some bamboo stick every corner of the house including the windows to prevent of not getting near again.

It is from the old beliefs and still we did it until now .. some more for the members who did experience here too and I know it is usually common to the province or if you have house near to the forest or far from the neighbors... For this boarding house i live now as what they said that it is there way to pass by

I remember you saying you went to Siquijor...It's a place I'd like to go.
May have to take the 'Ghostbusters' with us.

We were watching that a few weeks ago in Manila.

Could have been as your location say's 'Behind you....'

I live in a remote cottage, just up in the wood, up a track...no neighbours, as the only other cottage is a 5 min walk, but it's empty at the moment. The local ghost hunter told me how haunted my place is & a white lady is supposed to wander about on the hill...Not seen or heard anything in 6 years here.

Had a policeman knock on my door at night once, looking for a lost police dog. He said "Corr!...it's a bit Blair Witch Project up here".

I have never seen anything mate, slept outdoors on a beach last week staring up at the stars(till it rained)and listening to noises from the tree-line till I nodded off and woke when a canoe past.I remember sleeping under a tree on Siquijor and everyone told me I was lucky I awoke without my brains being addled as the particular spirit in that tree was malevolent and didnt like people sleeping without its permissionI like the sound of your location, sounds ideal except the copper knocking at the door part

I have met people, genuine flesh-and-blood,real evil spirits who were a lot more scary than anything dreamt up in cryptid fables.

Beast of bodmin type felids pale into insignificance beside the likes of the likes of bangungot(comes inside your dreams freddy kruger style and sits on your chest, kind of kinky) and amalanhig(always run in a zig-zag if your confronted by one,he can only run in a straight line ).

A better tip is if two of you are attacked by an amalanhig let your companion run off quickly, you just take your zig-zagging time, guess which of you will be for supper(it aint going to be you)
Havent you ever seen the TV reports of people possessed by engkanto?I always enjoy chatting with oldies about this sort of stuff, for some its a serious subject,my heads cram-packed full of tips on how to save myself in time of cryptid attacks

Plenty will be zig zagging their way home, walking back from the pub now...No good for the amalanhig?

    Stay on the path!

I've found that drinking several San Migs and a few Tanduays makes me totally fearless.

    Hello Everyone,
I've heared a lot of stories like that, about tiktik and aswang. I've watched a tv program before, the pedro pendoko. He fought loads of creatures including the aswang, mananaggal, tiktik, sigbin, etc.
Sigbin lives in a jar and it looks like a rat.
Tiktik, as what they say, is a pet bird of aswang. They will look for pregnant women.
Another thing is that there are loads of spirits roaming anywhere. I can feel their energy sometimes.

Thankfully I am teetotal so have never once seen anything of a paranormal/supernatural nature

I inherited mine from an old hilot, but in the UK I am sure most Tesco-extra stores stock them
pedro penduko is dead now,his program used to be on ABS/CBN,I dont know if he ever actually caught anything cryptozoological however?
Ever heard of Nardong Putik,he was a robber totally impervious to gunshots during his nefarious career,he died from a gunshot wound in a shootout however when his agimat power ran out due to his foetus-jar being touched by his daughter thus negating his supernatural powersYup,theres nowt as strange as folks
Packing my bags for a flight tomorrow,Hong Kong, back in a week

Except for hotels that want to charge a fortune to take people down to the ferry, when there are loads of jeepneys on the roads!

Get a grip over there in Phils, Tawi2.
