Unhappy UKBA English Test and spouse visa

    hi,
I have a wife and daughter in Bacolod - as i am on my daughters birth certificate we had no problems in getting her a passport.

    So onto the spouse visa.

After months of messing around getting NSO marriage certificates and documentation and statements and all the rest of the small book of forms needed for a spouse visa this English test comes along..

Simple question, we have all our documents to apply now even though the rise in fees up to 55,000 pesos is going to kill me. I have made a date with VFS in manila for my wife to apply for spousal visa for 26th november, does this mean she will get around the having to take an english test coming in on 29th before a visa can be applied for? i know she would need to take it eventually but rather in two years and in England.

Havent seen my nearly five month old daughter in four months

    Thanks
    Paul

hi there, does your wife speak english already because the test seems simple

    have a look here, http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/si...-test-partners

i guess you need to get her to pass the english test before you apply?

im trying to see if you can take the test once you are here because the list they give, most of the centers are in the uk?
i have learnt to do what my wife says!

According to UKBA it comes down to Application Date.
Anyone who applies on or after 29 November must have passed the English test

Firstly ... I would like to extend to you a cordial - albeit belated - to the filipino/uk forum.

Next ... in reply to your question: the good news IS, since your wife will be lodging her visa application on Friday 26th, she will narrowly miss having to take the English Language Test ... which is due to come into effect the following Monday ... the only downside being that you've left it just a little bit too late to escape the increased fee.

Finally, it's particularly pleasing to observe that recent submissions appear to have been dealt with fairly rapidly ... and, if this trend continues, I'm hopeful that it may not be too long before you can all be together as a family ... so Good Luck with yours!

KOL refers to Knowledge of Language and Life in the UK (Life in The UK Test)
Anytime during the validity of the visa you can satisfy the KOL requirement in the UK
    Hope this helps
