Maybe the only good thing about a story like this is that it makes big news. In many countries dishonest police officers are so common that it does not.

In UK practically all, if not all, dishonest police officers, correctly so, on conviction are sent to prison and of course they get a very rough time being ex-coppers.

By the way who arrests and prosecutes dishonest officers?

Answer: The good guys in the police, but then in a story like this almost no one wants to hear that.
