    Ilr help

    Ilr help
my wifes now been in uk now for just over two years, we sent away for her ilr tuesday 16th november 2010, according to my online banking uk border have taken the fee off 840 pounds. So i take this is good news just in time before the fee goes up to 900 pounds from the 22 nov.
Im just wondering how long they take to send back the ilr, passports, ect, ect. To my address.

Also when we have the ilr can my wife travel to other countries without any problems, or do we need to get british citizenship before we can do this.
    Cheers grant and jo ann

It varies, I believe, Grant ... depending on their workload at the time. I should imagine 2/3 weeks would be a reasonable expectation ... with the Festive Season approaching. But don't worry, though ... ILR is merely a formality for most couples in your situation. And the fact that the fee has already been deducted from your bank account is proof that your application has been received safely.

So far as I'm aware, Jo Ann is free to travel abroad within certain *limitations. I'm not sure what *these are ... nor, for that matter, the maximum number of days she is likely to be permitted to spend outwith the United Kingdom prior to applying for British Citizenship ... although others here will be able to advise.

She will, however, still need to obtain a Schengen Visa [free of charge to spouses of British citzens] to visit the likes of France, Spain, Italy, &c. ... as well as any other countries within the EU.
