How do you know there is no God ?

I was having a discussion with my son the other day. He is an atheist. I said but how do you know there is no God, how can you prove it? He said, well I suppose its just a matter of faith !

I think we have a god, I suspect he is interwoven with us.

There are 7 Planes Of Existance:

7 — Material Plane: The earth, where you are right now.
    6 — Plane of Forces
    5 — Astral Plane
    4 — Mental Plane
3 — Too mysterious to describe.
2 — Too mysterious to describe.
1 — Too mysterious to describe.

That is always the answer, it's a matter of faith. Gods existence can't be proved or disproved. If people want to believe in God, that's their right the same as atheists don't have to believe.

Scientists have argued that science is all about facts and truth, the Big Bang proved beyond all doubt that God didn't create the universe. I read on the Beeb the other day that they now think there may have been hundreds or thousands of Big Bang's over time and the universe is now flat. So maybe, the scientific theories of the last 100 years are actually wrong? hmmmm didn't we used to think the world was flat. It still begs the question, what was there before the first Big Bang and who put the first proton or neutron there? (scientists can correct my terminology). Something couldn't have just been created out of nothing, it had to be there?

I don't really care whether the scientists or the religious people are right, I have my own views which are just that and I certainly don't live my life thinking about them or forcing others to accept my view.

    I don't care either way

I'm surprised nigel, I thought that you would say God is our minds projection of something greater than us.

Though I do agree on some perspective of your suspicion about God.

If it's hot in hell, does that mean it's freezing in Heaven?

Hey Purple! I'm gonna change my font colour to green! And so you can now use purple exclusively! I suspect your true favourite colour is probably violet though! hehe

    Faith works both ways.

    I have faith in Darwin.

I also believe that religion is a subtle (and sometimes extreme) form of terrorism, and ALWAYS a form of mind control.

Did you hear about the dyslexic agnostic insomniac ?

He lay awake all night wondering if there really was a dog.

An atheist was walking through the woods, admiring all that the
    "accidents" that evolution had created.

"What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!" he
    said to himself.

As he was walking alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes
behind him. Turning to look, he saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards
    him.

He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder
and saw the grizzly was closing.

Somehow, he ran even faster, so scared that tears came to his eyes. He
looked again and the bear was even closer.

His heart was pounding and he tried to run faster. He tripped and fell
to the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but the bear was right
over him, reaching for him with its left paw and raising its right paw
    strike him.

At that instant the atheist cried, "Oh my God...!"

Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent.
    Even the river stopped moving.

As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky,
"You deny my existence for all these years, teach others that I don't exist
and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help
you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"

The atheist looked directly into the light, "It would be hypocritical to
ask to be religious after all these years, but perhaps you could make
    the bear religious?"

    "Very well" said the voice.

The light went out. The river ran. The sounds of the forest resumed.

..and then the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together
and bowed its head and spoke: "Lord, for this food which I am about to
    receive, I am truly thankful..."
