    hi all in the forum,
does anyone know what the required amount is to have left in your account every month after outgoings? we will be applying for the settlement visa for my filipina wife. We also have a child who was born in philippines (my child has a british passport already obtained in the philippines)
any help would be greatly appreciated,
    many thanx

hi there and welcome , the most important thing is having a income each week or mouth going into the account, yes its nice to have lots left but in our case i pay extra to the mortgage each week and transfer money to other accounts also , if you just explain what you are doing or where the money is going that should help, try never ever to be overdrawn

there is no set figure but about £160 a week after you paid rent and poll tax should be enough, thou having a £2000-£3000 in the bank on most of the statements will help

dont send any overdrawn ones, if you have to wait a month or so then its better to wait than risk refusal..

    Many thnx guys,
interesting, it seems the amount you are tellin me about has increased to 160 per week!, im assuming that means that if im sending my wife remittance every month and the immigration can see this they will assume i will have that extra when my wife is here with me in the uk? i mean i only earn before tax 1300.00 per month.... has anyone had any experience with applying after 3 months instead of 6? i heard that its 3 months MINIMUM, im hoping we can apply after 3 months, i cant live without my mahal for much longer =(

3 months you could, but its advised you send 6, specially if your finances are not great (gives you time to save more )

obviously you tell them that in your letter of support, what ever you are sending to your wife, once shes in the UK you will no longer need to, meaning you'll have £xxx more

the figure is roughly £160 because you have to support yourself, your wife and child.

basically if you've got say £2,000+ in your savings account, no overdrawn bank statements and your working, and your not spending more than your earning (hopefully your bank statements are showing an increase each month ) then you shouldn't have a problem at all with the finance side.

As a guide for a couple you need to have £103 disposable each week after deduction
of key outgoings (ie rent/mortgage/counciltax etc) for a couple and £58 per child per week.

Don't forget that council tax will increase if previously based on single occupancy.
