I've been driving to Liverpool from N Wales a few times the last few weeks, the only time I've hit bad roads to drive on is in Liverpool

There's no need for the Police to patrol motorways anymore with CCTV every 200 yards, they can see what they need to from the comfort of the CCTV Control room, and then dispatch a fast car if anything happens. The Highways Agency 4x4's now do a lot of the things the Police used to do like dealing with breakdowns and punctures...etc.

Last week I felt very uneasy about driving on the motorway not because of the snow & ice but because of not being able to clean the windscreen when I was driving along. I had put in screenwash neat which contains anti freeze so I thought it wouldn't be a problem but when I was about to start my journey I found the jets were frozen. Poured hot water over them and they worked - for about 20 minutes then froze up again.

Was on the M54 and it was pitch black, with the windscreen getting dirtier & dirtier with all that smeg that comes off the salt/grit. The lights from the cars coming in the opposite direction made it ten times worse and when it gets like this, don't even think about using your wipers as it spreads the smeg right across the screen.

Luckily I had some Windowlene so I pulled over narrowly missing the barrier by the hard shoulder and sprayed the screen. Had to repeat this every 20 minutes or so for 80 miles. What a nightmare.
