Marriage In The Phils....procedure check! Also Baguio Country Club

Hi all!
Happy to find myself here and amongst like minded friends who have been there, gonna be there or being there right now!

So....am born and bred in the UK amd engaged to a lovely sweet Filipina I met in Japan and will be marrying in Baguio, Phils. (March this year)

Just want to check I have the procedure right and have remembered EVERYTHING. lol. Would hate to get their and find their was something forgotton and the wedding will not go ahead after all the arrangements and honeymoon have been paid for.

Can you check my list and point out any omissions. And also little things it would be handy to know before I go over and can prepare for in advance. Thanks in advance for your time in posting and reading this thread.

1) CNI from uk registrar
2) Innoculations
3) Change CNI at Manila British Embassy
4) Bring divorce Certificate, 10 year Passport
5) Apply wedding licence
6) Attend Family Planning Seminar
(all 14 days before wedding)

Scared to death I get their and am asked for something I forgot!

Having the wedding at the Baguio Country Club. Any thoughts? Probably should have asked that before I booked it...

I've always wondered about the "family planning seminar" being compulsory, sometimes I read it is not compulsory beyond a specific age limit...........

I think you also have to bring:

2. CENOMAR

Your fiance will need a CENOMAR, we were asked for it. She gets it from her local National Statistics Office (NSO)

closed, aisan spirit was the last airline to close end of 2008

well the other option is to hire a taxi and do a deal with them, who could take you there and bring you back, thats what we had to do when the weather was bad going back to manila and the planes were grounded. had to buy them lunch and it took over 2 or 3 hrs i think

So sorry YorkshirePuddin. I had no idea that those flights had stopped.
That is really strange with so many tourists and business people wanting to get there and back quickly.
Hmmm, looks like you will have very little choice.
Why not check out the websites of the buses to compare on-board facilities and schedule times to see which is better for you.
The alternative would be either taxi or van and driver. But if you are travelling alone and have no contacts, then the bus would be better.

Be aware of any rules for the purchase of valid tickets.
Be aware of the length of time it may take to journey, and be prepared for your comfort.

No have not been been to the Phils before. Did all my "courting" in Japan and on the net!
So not travelled on the mountain road to Baguio.
Hope the bus wont get hijacked....

Married in Baguio then to Boracay for honeymoon though....THEN the dreaded immigration malarkey.... you will probably see lots of posts by me when THAT time gets here.., gulp!

When me and my husband now went to City Registrar to apply for a marriage license, one of the requirements for both of us was our CENOMARs. Please see the link below, maybe it would help.

I already told you, you need the CENOMAR It's what your wife to be needs to get (Certificate of no marriage)...to prove she is free to marry you.

Just get the license, where you intend to marry...Baguio.

It would have been helpful to get marriage licence in Manila before I headed to Baguio which is why I was asking if it was possible.

I just want to say that in our experience (Husband and me), both of us were asked for a CENOMAR. What we did was we both went to NSO to get it. We applied for marriage license in Cebu City. I just dont know if it is also required in the other cities here in the Philippines. You can ask your fiancee to inquire in Baguio city hall.
And you are required to have your CNI. It is different from cenomar.
My fiance (now husband) only brought with him his CNI, Birth certificate, passport and baptism certificate.

been on Victory Liner twice, from manila-Baguio......................its a long way , but if your gf is with you its not a prob.
Pain in the butt when you come home tho..............a bit torturous cos you know every turn of the wheel is a turn closer to sayin goodbye.

What date in March.........? We may bump into each other.

Ok another question.... (sorry)....

There are 2 weeks from landing to the wedding date (including weekends) - so 10 working days...
Is that enough time to change cni in manila and then travel to Baguio for wedding licence application and seminar...begginning to think I am cutting it fine....
Baguio registrar seem to think it will not be done in time!

Get to the Embassy ASAP on arrival in Manila, providing it is within opening hours of course.
You're supposed to pick it up the next day, but if you explain your tight schedule, they might do it sameday??? as someone else on here managed to get it...Also depends what day it is?

Get to the Registrars as soon as you can...License will take 10 working days, though we got ours in 10 straight days (though this dosen't appear to be the norm) Hopefully, you should just about have enough time.

...Just re-read your post. If you meant you have 10 days, from changing your CNI to having the marriage license in your hand, then 10 days probably wont be enough?
