So which Site do you get the Cheapest Flights on?

I generally book direct with the airlines, saves hassle for me as I like the extra options you get with them, however I know you can get them cheaper.

    www.netflights.com
They may not be the cheapest, but you get the security of them being owned by Thomas Cook. That peace of mind is worth an extra £20 to me

car hire in the Pina's - No thanks No way would I even consider driving there. Buses, taxi's, jeep's and trikes are cheap enough.

I've hired plenty of cars in Europe but don't go to anyone in particular, usually a quick search on the net and look for a reputable company rather than a cheap one

Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.

I never said in the Phil .... however having just spent over 2 weeks in Manila it's not that much different from LA .... in fact, less traffic in Manila ..... but you just have to be more aware of things around you. Wouldn't be a problem for me driving there, but I'd need a 4x4 to boss the other vehicles, and an automatic, otherwise you'd be tap dancing non-stop on the clutch.

I saw some yesterday for £440, I think it was with Cathay Airlines, but it was 2 stops and 33 hours long! Next cheapest was 16 hours for £560. Think I'd personally rather pay that extra £120 for a 17 hour shorter flight each way!

A 16 hour journey for £560, well worth the money
    Who was that with KLM?
I've done 16 hours with KLM before, the shortest time I've managed with Emirates is 19h30min

With latest search (for flight in April for example), best I found was £489 with Royal Brunei for a direct flight-that was through TravelHouse. On Dealchecker was £414 through Riyahd (28 hours), £521 through Kuwait (22 hours), £571 through KLM (17 hours) and £600 Hong Kong (14 1/2 hours).

I phoned up about 10 firms when I went. The last one, Dial A Flight quoted me the cheapest at £444 with Saudi Airlines with a 3 hour stopover in Riyadh both ways. By far the most professional firm I spoke to as well.

not so much the flight to manila but other flights and the cabin crew just growled at everyone , food and so on , its just spending that much money on a flight you dont want to think a few more quide and flying with another airline would be so much better

I thought the cabin crew on SA especially the Filipina's from Heathrow to Riyadh were pretty good. The food was OK although it wasn't brilliant. My only gripe was a couple of the planes weren't very comfortable and the flight from Riyadh to Heathrow I couldn't watch anything because the screen wasn't working and everyone else's was the same.

In answer to the question I would say 'netflights.com' is the cheapest place to find a flight to the Phils. I use 'Dial a Flight' they are abta covered and the tickets get emailed as soon as they get payment. No waiting around a day or so like some travel brokers make you do

That's a great price! Found one for £413, but it took a massive 39 hours altogether With 9 hours to Jeddah, 13 hour 20 minute wait, then 17 hours to Manila!

What's that in...a blinkin hot air balloon ?

When I was a kid in the 1950s we flew out to Singapore in a 'Hermes' 75 seater.
    - 3 days with 2 overnight stops, including 7 re-fuellings.
Makes me a bit more patient now.

    Here's one:

3 years later came by sea, and that took even longer...3 weeks.

Ho much would that cruise cost you these days though ?

Here's the ship. The 'Empire Fowey':

Dad was Royal Navy (so they paid for it all).

My mother contracted TB while we were in Malaya... hence no flying back.

Both journeys were truly amazing experiences, at a time when world travel was much less common.

Even Singapore and Malaya (where we lived) were still very much old-style colonial outposts then, with not a skyscraper in sight and Tigers in the jungle.

So much has been swept away and destroyed in the past 50 years.

Below...me as budding trike driver...with sis:

My dad and uncle clive were in the far-east during the 60's,I have seen how much certain places have changed in 20 years so they must have changed trememdously since the 50's,oh for the loan of a H.G.Wells type time machine

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.
