visa reforms for non EU workers

published by UKBA on the 16th feb..

    http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/si...-outlines-visa

only 20,700 visas will be made available to skilled workers applying through Tier 2 of the points-based system

employers will have to apply for a certificate of sponsorship from the UK Border Agency for a specific post if they wish to bring someone to the UK

The annual limit of 20,700 certificate of sponsorship will be divided into 12 monthly allocations

Workers from outside the EU who want to come to the UK will need to have a graduate level job, speak an intermediate level of English, and meet specific salary and employment requirements.

it means there is a limit to the number of teir 2 permits which will be issued, your nurse friend will have to find an employer who will apply for a certificate of sponsorship for your friend, unless your friends skill is on the job shortage list, then the employer would have to give the job to any suitable brit or european first..

yes its probably tougher than ever for non eu's to get a job here in the UK now

Thank you Joe. My nurse friend does not have a Degree in Nursing but she has NMC registration and IELTS to meet the requirement of Tier 2 Sponsorship. She is trying to look for job in Nursing Home. I did advised her to work in Recovery Room as it is a shortage area. But she does not hold a Degree qualification and I am not sure if she will qualify for a Certificate of Sponsorship.
