    Fianc'ee visa

    Hi everyone,

We have been following the postings here since early December 2010, and we would like to share our own experience on the processing of my fiancée visa application.

We followed all the posting with great interest and found all the advice to be very useful, sympatric and supportive. My wonderful fiancée took our application in on the 19th of January 2011, she then received a text on the 20th telling her that the application had been forwarded to the consulate for processing. On the 25th of January she then received another text saying the application was now being processed.

With this text we both felt excited but also felt worried not knowing what the outcome would be, yes I would say it’s always best to be confident but you can not help to feel a little worried, its human nature I guess!

The reason for our worries were that we did not have any chat logs or emails going back to 2003 up to present day, and back in 2003 we had no idea that we would be at this stage wanting to get married, also we used cam and voice to communicate and land line telephones most of the time.

Another concern of mine was that I had only been back in the country for 7 months due to coming back from working aboard, I also did not have much money in my bank account or much in the way of savings, And I was also worried about living in rented accommodation. I was also a little worried as my bank account had become overdrawn for the sum of 12 pounds for period one week; this was a concern after reading various postings saying that it is not a promising sign to have a negative bank account showing on your statements.

What my fiancée submitted as the applicant
    1. Cenomer
    2. Her own birth certificate
    3. Her children’s birth certificates
    4. English test certificate
    5. Proof of savings
    6. Passport and previous passports
    7. Cell phone statement showing calls to UK

What I submitted as the sponsor
    1. Birth certificate
    2. Divorce certificate
    3. Copy of all the pages in my passport
    4. 6 months bank statements
    5. Savings statement
    6. 6 months payslips
    7. Letter from my employer
    8. Proof of accommodation and picture of house.
    9. Letter from my land lady
    10. letter of how we met
    11. Letter of financial support
    12. Receipt’s from hotel and flight tickets from visits to Philippines

I did not have a P60 to submit due to not being in the UK for the previous 2 years, I think it is important like many have already said that you should write strong and detailed letters of support..

If your fiancée as savings this also is a big help as this help’s to support the sponsor’s financial situation if it is needed. The whole process took 23 working days from the time it went to the Embassy for processing.

I think it is important that your letters are very detailed and try to show your true feeling when you are writing the letter of how you met! To me this is your one chance of putting your points across, when writing this letter try to imagine that you are being interviewed and you have just been asked that question ‘HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR FIANCEE’ we were also surprised that my fiancée was not called for an interview! I think this was due to having a strong detailed letter of how we met!

On the 24th of February my fiancée received a text saying! A decision on your Visa application reference number: 00000000000000000000 has been made by the British Embassy. Your application has been received at the UK Visa Application Centre and is ready for collection, then a 2nd text later that day saying! Your processed visa application reference no. 0000000000000000000 dispatched to you via 2GO Aboitiz.

She received her passport with the visa in on the 25th of February, on receiving this she then called me right away which was 6am UK time to tell me the fantastic news!

I cant wait for my beautiful fiancée to be with me here! We have now booked a flight for me to go to the Philippines to collect her and bring her home to the UK our big day is booked and I can’t believe in a few months we will be MR&MRS!

I hope the information that we have shared helps those who are looking to make their application, I think this is a FANTASTIC site and we would like to wish everyone making an application the best of luck and to everyone all the success for the future!

    Best wishes
    S & B

    Welcome to the forum steve&bern.
Very nice introduction and a great story with well deserved happy ending.
Thank you for sharing the detail, I'm sure it will help boost the confidence of others.

It does well to remember that the large majority of 'straightforward' applications are granted without issues.

    Good luck for the future.

Thank you everyone for all the kind words!

Can any one give us any advice on what we should do or what to be aware of when we apply for the F.L.R visa! is there a waiting time after the wedding day or do we assume it is A.S.A.P right after the big day?

We look forward to hearing any advice! and all appreciated.

    Thanks

    S&B
