been Suspended from my work advice needed please help

    hi all
im after some advice. I work as a carer for Bupa but have bees suspended pending an investigation. Im really worried coz i havnt done anything.
this is the story. Myself and 2 other carers(one of which is a senior carer) went into help a resident get up in the morning. This resident is known for being violent as has just recently been moved to my care home from another on account of her being violent.
Anyway we noticed she had bruises on her hands but as it was early in the morning there was noone to report it to so the senior decided to get her up as she was wet.
the next day the residents family saw the bruises and complained to our boss. That was on my day off but when i went to work the folloowing day i had to write a statement and was then escorted of the premises and suspended on full pay.
None of us did this woman any harm what so ever andup to that point i have received many personal best awards but i feel sad and feel i cannot return to work there.
Im just looking for advice and feel because im filipino i may bet blamed.
Im also looking for a lawyer who can help me so if you know any could you let me know.
    Thanks for reading
    love
    Yna x

Sorry to hear about this. Are you a member of a Trade Union ( eg Unison ) ? - if so they would be able to help you. It's probably a bit early to be thinking about a lawyer.

depending on what you earn, you might be able to get legal aid from your local law centre.. call the one near to you..
    http://www.lawcentres.org.uk/lawcentres/detail/find/

where in the UK are you ?

i'm sure BUPA will have their own procedures to deal with this

also see if you have a local TUC Unemployed & Community Resource Centre they should be able to tell you your rights

Thats very sad to hear Yna, I am sure they will find the real reason and you will be re-instated soon. Citizen's Advice (CAB) may also be able to advise in the mean time Good luck.

Bupa are a well run business, they are probably just following protocol to show they are taking the allegation seriously and are bound to properly investigate the complaint. One question.. did all the staff involved get suspended or just you. it should be all staff who had any contact with the resisdent. I agree that it does not feel nice when you have done nothing wrong but the the truth will out in most cases, just keep your spirits up. As a back up it may be worth checking what union is invloved and if the other carers concerned are members. good luck and a late welcome to the forum

Hi Yna I think you maybe worrying too much. Your employer has to be seen to be acting on its findings. Your previous exemplary work record will hold you in good stead. A word of advice You need to join a union

You might want to look for the Protocols in your company for this situation did you have them given to you?

Reporting on these kind of findings are to protect client and employee you said there was no-one there when you all first saw this but no follow up may be the problem

This will certainly become an issue. Once the bruises were noticed, written care notes should have been made and a supervisor informed.
ynai4, I know this has been asked before, but what has happened to the other care workers with you at the time?
