    check this link http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/se...rightform/work
and I think you will also need to pass the Life in the UK Test http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/se...language-life/ as the rule changed in 02 April 2007 for those who want to apply Permanent Resident /Indefinite Leave to Remain

goodluck and welcome to the forum!!

Aremla ... ! Please follow the links provided by Mari [Sars]. And YES ... you WILL need to pass the 'Life in the UK Test' BEFORE applying for your Residence Permit. Goodluck with it.

Correct, Mari ... the 'Life in the UK Test' IS a compulsory requirement for anyone - with a Settlement and/or Working Visa - applying for Permanent Residence (ILR). for the help you've given to Aremla.

An application for ILR can be submitted up to 28 days prior to the qualifying period being met.
have you spent at least 4years and 11months as a work permit holder??
Any periods of unemployment or periods when the individual was working without a valid work permit (or leave to remain) will not count toward the qualifying period.

we don't actually know,as the rules/fees/ etc changes every now and then,..It is important to check the UKBA website http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/ every now and then to avoid inconvenience in any visa applications.

    aremla,

If your here in UK on work permit you can apply your ILR on Form Set(O)

You must have lived in UK for a qualifying period of 5 years as a work permit holder.
(note that if you first came here under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) before 3 April 2006 you can apply after living in UK 4)

You can apply for ILR 28 days before completion of your qualifying period.

    Look here:-
    http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/se...ionformset(o)/

    Fee if applying by post:-

    Main Applicant £900.
    Each Dependant £250.

Fee if applying in person at PEO:-

    Main Applicant £1250.
    Each Dependant £350.

    The guidance notes are here:-
    http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/si...dseto04091.pdf

You can download the form here(look at the bottom of the page):-

No it's not like that for short absences. Holidays and periods of work outside UK are allowed.

The links supplied to you together with the application forms and guidance notes will answer nearly all of your questions.

    aremla,
One important document you will need to supply with your ILR application is a supporting letter from your employer stating that you have been employed by them, that you are currently employed by them and that your employment with them will be continuing.
I did wonder how you managed to get 7 weeks holiday leave? Thats quite a lot more than normal annual leave allowance?

actually 2weeks extra is without pay. as i explained to my manager that i need that as after 4yrs i'll come back to philippines and having family reunion...and i'm very thankful i have that. terpe do you think best idea to apply my ILR is after my holiday? coz i thought i will spend only for nearly £2000 if i will apply for personal in PEO thats included my husband and my son as dependant but when i saw the propose fee in ukba site which they want to implement by april 6, i will spend for almost £2700 for personal application..

    aremla,

Firstly, the earliest you can apply is June 16 - 28 days which means May 20

If you have your Phils holiday booked for mid of June then personally I think it's quite tight timing for postal application if you want to apply before your holiday.
Additionally IF the fees will be increased they are scheduled to happen from 6 April 2011, so means no saving to be made by applying early.

    I can't advise you, it's your choice.
If it was me, given those facts and IF I had the cash I would apply early. But that's just me.
    It's financial decision only.

It's such a lot of extra cash for PEO but at least all is done and dusted in one day.

BTW here are the details for fee increases

    Proposed Fee Increases to Immigration
Damian Green has issued a Written Ministerial Statement that proposes to increase immigration and nationality application fees for all
those applying to study, visit, work or stay in the UK.

The new proposed fees will be laid in Parliament in two separate regulations.
These fees will not come into force untill they have been debated and approved in Parliament, but are due to take effect from 6 April 2011.
