just a note to any one who is planning getting married in the phils, it will save a lot of time and money... if ur english try n obtain ur cni before you go.. make sure ur birth certificate is preferably a new full one... then make sure your partner has a new birth certificate printed on the new security paper... all tho the english embassy asks for the original .. they will refuse it.. as its not on the security paper.. oh and if ur going to the cebu embassy make sure its open.. other wise ur globe trotting round the phils ...

well we presented all the papers to the staff at the british embassy manila, then my partner was told that they now require a birth certificate from her that is printed on the new type of security type paper.. and her original old one was not good enough as it may of been a forgery.. so basically all im advising is present the new type of paper they are requiring at the uk embasy.. as this does save so much time and money.. agghh then we took the new certificate in before 10 am for same day collection ..they told us to come back monday.. another agghhh

but we was told by them to bring the original birth certificate.. which we did.. then oops not good enough..

we left for cebu from miagao stopped off in boracay the proceeded to cebu next day finally arrived a day later.. only to be told the embassy is closed.. this they failed to mention too, for this particular date.. so then we flew to mamila... but missed 2 early morning flights.... agghhh so in reality it was like 2 weeks travelling back n forth..

Me and my missus-to-be arrived at Pasay City Hall all ready to get married, and an official pointed out that my fiancee had spelled her name slightly differently on one of the forms.

We had to rush down to the British Embassy in full wedding tackle, sort it out, and then back to our wedding guests and the Judge.

To be fair Branno Moira Is an honourary Brit consul and she only works in the mornings by appointment at the pool

The other small confusion in this thread is that although its correct to talk about "new" security paper the common parlance here is N.S.O. ( National statistics office) birth certificate same place for the cenoma and marriage certificate

thankfully we have friends who work at the n.s.o. who was a great help in speeding up the new type of paper its printed on, altho it was still only a foto copy but on the reverse side it has the bar coding too.. but i still think its advisabe to have the more newer one.. as they say keith better safe than sorry.. ... apart from this everthing else went sweetly...

yeah unless ur familar with those things above the letters like little squiggles or wot ever they are.. we dont tend to pay attention to them here..

so I can to the British embassy in Manila to give them my certificate of no impediment and I hope to god they can issue a certificate of freedom same day so I can get down to lapu lapu Cebu to start planning me and my fiancee wedding. and get licence and attend senomars.
can any body here give me advise so that things go more smooth

if i may say there are just a few simple requirements, but .... u need these... a cni from both parties..(you and your partner)... birth certificates... i would advise that the filipino one is on the new type of security type paper and with a bar code on the reverse... if you can ..include the reciept too... it helps ...then after these have been processed dont forget to arrange your marriage guidance councilling... also a required pice of paper work ... and im sure it all can be done in cebu at the british consular there.....

Logicaly make the apointment with Moira In cebu and go straight to Cebu from manila meet your intended and get her paperwork and do the exchange Monday morning in cebu eady peasy

hi i read with interest the various docs needed for marriage in phils
the cni paper what is it exactly ive heard of its requirement but where would you get one and who varifies it legally

'Certificate Of Non-Impediment' (to marry, that is).

Like calling the Banns.

It means that your intention to marry has been published (in the UK), and chance given for that poor wife that you may have run away from to object, and claim you as her property.

All done through your local Registry Office...including issuance of the certificate.
I don't know if it's still the same, but your announcement had to remain on display there for 21 days.

You then submit said certificate to the British Embassy in Manila or wherever, and they process it through.

may i just remind any one who is going to apply for a cni in england... carefully and very thoroughy take a little extra time to read thru ur paper work before you sign the paper.. if there are any mistakes or typing errors and you dont spot them, you may not see them untill u recieve ur cni twenty one days later... and if there are some major errors you will more than likely have to submit a new cni and again wait a further 21days.. so hey just take a little extra time when reading thru before you sign ..

Good advice....and same goes for ALL other docs... eg make certain that same names and spellings are used right the way though, otherwise you might find yourself heading off to the British Embassy halfway through your wedding, as happened to me.
