I don't have problems with gays or lesbians..I've got gay friends and never had problems with them and they're even the best company i've had at times..they're still people who wish not to be discriminated because of their sexual orientation..Like what Doc Al said, it's not an illness nor a disease..

However most enlightened people, including doctors, realise
it's not an illness. No one knows for sure what determines sexual orientation. There are certainly health consequences - although AIDS for example is commoner in heterosexuals in the UK - and verbal or physical violence. Doctors treat the consequences but would not attempt to change sexual orientation without informed consent.
The majority of homosexuals are not high profile like Elton John and David Furnish. I have friends here and in the Philippines who are homosexual - I don't consider myself trendy by having such friends. They don't attempt to change my heterosexual orientation.
Many people change their views and become more tolerant if they actually know homosexuals, and it's not uncommon for them to change their views when they discover a member of their own family is gay - worse could happen.
    Sensible stuff Doc. Well said.

Sure, it may not be a disease, but weren't we built to reproduce? So in theory we should only be attracted to the opposite sex. If it comes down to just being an attraction thing, what we prefer, does that also mean that pedophilia and bestiality are ok too then

    Exactly.

I have gay friends too (I'm not THAT divorced from the real world ).

What I find annoying is the totally out of proportion publicity and the almost 'promoting' of gay rights, issues etc...constant pressure for us to accept them and their lifestyle.

We all have a right to OUR opinions, and any amount of PC nonsense cannot alter the fact that the other 90% of the population are 'wired' as nature intended, and it is also perfectly natural for people to want to reject what they (correctly) perceive to be behaviour that doesn't conform to convention.

I'm not asking for gays and lesbians etc to be hounded or beaten to death, or discriminated in any way.

I just wish they would stop whining, and understand that a lot of people DO find their sexual activities repugnant.

    Live with it.

Yes, I know that ... and I, for one, haven't seen it! But WHY do the TV programme producers habitually feel the urge to focus so much on the "seamier" aspects of humanity?

Nothing against the third sex,but nowt can persuade me its natural, its the overtly camp ones who overplay the drama-queen feminine part and make Julian Clary seem masculine that I cant abide

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

I pretty much agree with everything Graham said..

Although I wonder about the dodgy wiring thing though.
If as Doc says,we cant fix their wiring, what else is there to do?
Many may have the attitude of walatayo but if one of our own kids came out and had the guts to tell us their wiring was bent what would we do then?
I say I love my 3 kids unconditionally..
How much of a hypocrite would I be if I dumped anyone of them instantly just because they told me they were unrepairablely gay or with bent emotional or sexual wiring?
I rather think that I would support them and physically fight anyone that wants to hurt them..
    Just my initial thoughts.

If my boy had turned out to be gay, well of course I wouldn't reject or stop loving him.

There are still degrees of behaviour though.

Just as our daughters could turn out to be prim and proper young ladies, or Lap Dancers.

... ! My daughter mentioned just recently, that my wee grandson seemed more preoccupied with his wee sister's dolls than some of his own [dare I say?] "boys' toys". And I remember thinking: "well ... as long as he's HEALTHY ... ... it doesn't matter a damn!" So ... from that perspective ... MY UNCONDITIONAL LOVE overrides any bias I might've expressed here earlier - as I'm sure WOULD be the case in most families.

I agree. If its hip to be bent then it s fair game for the kiddie fiddlers after all, they cant help there sexual preferences.
Thats using the same analogy as the ' for it, live and let live' camp.

As for turning our backs on our flesh and blood because they were gay, I dont think so. Even if they were the worse of the worse, we'd still love them.

Im not a gay hater! Its about irresponsible tv producers making it look glamorous and normal. Its not.

    No, you misunderstood my statement.

I was giving an example of DEGREES of difference in sexual behaviour...not in sexuality.

Regarding homosexuality and lesbianism ... far from condemning those who're "that way inclined" as necessarily being bad people, WE s belong to a generation when such "capers" were carried on privately -*behind [*scuse pun] closed doors, so to speak - instead of being flaunted at every turn ... as if it were some "trendy new cult" and/or perfectly normal behaviour - which it most definitely is NOT! ...

    ... that's the basis of our objection(s).

    Well summed up Arthur. Thanks.

Oh, and I'm sick of being urged to 'move with the times' etc.

Movement (and standards) can go in both directions.

For instance, does anyone honestly think that the high street on a weekend evening is a better place to be than it was ?

How the hell do you connect a legal sexual act with illegal child abuse? Would having anal with a woman make me a beasty as well, as that isn't a 'normal; sexual activity to you .... and gawd forbid blowjobs?

The act of homosexuality may be legal, it doesn't make it morally right.

You may enjoy having a length shoved up you back passage. I certainly wouldn't.
I dont know of any women liking it either. Buggery be it man on man or man on women is in my eyes abnormal.

Not sure what oral sex has to do with it.

Perhaps Ive lead a sheltered life

Truth be told ... homosexuality, lesbianism and paedophilia are ALL forms of sexual deviancy - albeit the first two have [sadly] been allowed to become legalised - whereas, the third NEVER WILL be, thank God!

Homosexuality and lesbianism are not sexual deviances for the people that swing that way
As Doc Alan points out, there may be up to 10% of the world's population are homosexual.

Better relax Arthur Little, they may be next to you at any minute

The TV show is Modern Family - it is a relection on society in the USA.
The UK is not too dissimilar.
