Smile New Member - another hopeful couple for settlement visa

    Hello Forum!

I never believe in soulmates nor long distance relationship... But WOW! It really does exist.

My amazing husband and I got married 3 months ago in the Philippines and now sorting out paperwork for my visa. We're really hoping that everything will work out right I find this website very helpful coz I was able to get some useful tips.
I will have my English exam result/certificate next week, and we're pretty excited to see how it goes. CFO is done and married name passport will be ready first week of June so after that, we are good to go with the visa application.
All we need to do is to complete all the supporting documents. I always check this site and I'm happy to know that approved > refused visa. Some people are lucky to get their visa in just a few days. I hope we will be lucky too We're keeping the positive attitude towards all of this process and procedures but no matter what happened my hubby and I will work as a team.
We're both professional and good people. I know and I believe that we will be together soon and build a good, happy and peaceful life.

    I LOVE MY AMAZING HUBBY

Hello. Being a professional worker, you should have no difficulty in attaining the standard required for your English Language Test Certificate ... then - as you envisage - it's " all systems go"! So ... continue to remain positive, good luck ... and to the friendly online filipino/uk community.

    Congratulations!

Just wondering when you applied for your passport and has it arrived? My wife applied for hers back in April, we paid extra for express processing but I believe the printing machine broke and there is a huge backlog. I was hoping to apply for her Visiting Family Visa at the end of June but this is looking unlikely now.

    Daghang salamat

I apologize for the late reply, I got my passport last June 25. I applied last April, it took me 2 months to get it because of the queue. I actually have my old passport and applied for a new one and use my hubby's last name. Yes backlogs in DFA is a big mess & hassle. You can tell your wife to call DFA hotline or much better she could go there and double check what happened to her passport.

hi equistegeeks Congrats for passing the test

Positive thinking will give you new ideas as your mind is not releasing negative vibrations at that time and positive attitude will help you to follow that thought optimistically.

Welcome and Congratulations to your marriage.
In my case, got married last March 2008, lodge my application April 2008 and got my Settlement/Spousal multiple visa on July 2008. Arrive in the UK August of the same year. One year of travelling & enjoying ourselves then find & got a job in 2009. Having a Settlement/ Spousal visa, you don't have any restrictions. You can work or study. Before I reached 2 years in the UK, need to take the life in the UK exam. October 2010 I passed the Life in the UK exam...in one time (meaning others took exam for 2nd/3rd time). Got my Residence permit in one day processing and this coming August 2011, I can apply for British Citizenship...It's all up to me. lols.

In your case, I am so happy. Everytime I heard stories like that, I am the one who gets excited. I know it has lots of processing & sacrfices but that's how it is. Wish you both good luck and hope all your wishes will come true.

eeeeek can't believe what you have been through. I'm glad you made it. I'm so happy for you.
IN my case, I took it here in the UK then order a book about "Life in the UK" £24 (3books). Have to read & understand Chapter 1 to 9. It's a computerize exam. Out of 24 question you should score 18. Cost per exam is £34. If failed, you have to pay again. If you pass that's the time you can book for your Indefinite leave to remain. The exam covers about religion, england, scotland, wales & northern ireland...then politics, uk now, education & employment. Random questions will appear on your screen. 24 questions out of that chapter 1-9 from the book ...If you understand that examiners intstruction & the one that you are reading that means you understand it all. That's the advantage of us Filipinos. Funny thing is, I have to keep my original certificate because they will not provide you an extra copy. You have to take another exam
But that's it. Wish you all the best in your next step. Have a nice weekend !
    x..
