    Beard Or No Beard?

    That is the question!

Anyhow ... a couple of days back, my good lady took a notion to download (or is it upload? I've never been quite sure!) a selection of photos - that had hitherto lain dormant on camera for the past 18 months - onto Facebook for the benefit of her family & friends back home in the Phils. (I'm usually too busy on here, you understand - and hence seldom login to FB!)

To those of you who've already seen and evaluated them, my profound thanks for your favourable comments ... which I fully intend to acknowledge individually within the next day or two - since the response has been [pleasurably] overwheming. (I also live in hope that I'll manage to post at least some on the Forum Gallery in the not too distant future!)

Someone happened to mention how different I looked without my beard. Which, in turn, prompted me into "acting the goat(ee)" by conducting a poll of sorts to determine members' preferences as regards bewhiskered men in general. Well ... it's no dafter an than some of Nigel's, after all - IS it!?

So, folks ... I shall leave you to it. Forget Noel Edmonds and/or his Philippines' TV counterpart ... this ain't 'Deal or No Deal' ... I've already made up MY mind on the subject!

Must dash ... or should I say, "Mustache"?

Depends on what state of decrepitude the wearer's face has collapsed into, presence of scars, giant warts, hairlip etc.

Not popular with the majority of women.

Admittedly, they do suit men better though.

... and the scant response to date would certainly indicate that they're out of favour.

Arthur, you look younger without your beard, but you no longer resemble an expatriate Scots movie star !

The beard is a definate no! I think men perhaps grow a beard as a way of expressing how masculine they are.. but girls find it about as attractive as a fart in a phonebox!

... Nigel, my friend ... the reason I grew mine, (my first, at the age of 29) wasn't to attract the ladies [I was already married at the time!] but because I believed my face was too rounded and chubby ... and I didn't want to appear flabby-looking or double-chinned!!

Aye ... it's an *ill wind ... that, we already know! But ... do, enlighten us: ... what does a "fart in a phonebox" - or ANYWHERE else, for that matter - actually "look" like? You're the man with all the theories, so c'mon ... !

Good point Ded, I only shave once a week, it grows quite even so I can get away with designer stubble and at work, I am not there to impress anyone either.
When I am in Phils however my lady likes me to be smooth, but even then I dont/cant shave everyday as it gets too rashy if I do it too often (and the shaving). I grew a full set when I was 21 and sported a goatie for many years, but for the last 3 years have been without facial hair.
