As with any large gathering involving people, you'll get the odd fight, not unusual at sporting events. As for top hats, you are not allowed on the track without one, and if you are seen without by a steward they will ask you to put it back on or leave the track.

They get fights every year at Royal Ascot .... and nearly all major racing events .... they just don't make the news as usually it isn't news unless you read the Racing Post. It only made headlines as all the major media companies already had tv cameras there. No incidents at Aintree, but people thrown out of Cheltenham Festival for disorder.

How do you know they are scumbags? It happened in one of the expensive enclosures, not the one the riff raff go in
