My progress in a week
My progress in a week
Well done Les.
Making me feel inadequate now.
I have now become hooked on the run/walk
My target now is to get a 13 min mile average-still way slow compaired to my mate who at the same age and after a heart attack 10 years ago runs a 9 min mile
If he can do it hopefully maybe in 6 months I can do it
Don't see why not.
In theory I should be really fit and healthy, as I always have been, but that is now being seriously threatened by my current lack of exercise...nothing else.
Shame really because for someone not far off his bus pass I've been very fortunate health-wise.
I'll keep popping in here for inspiration.
Just did 15 miles on the bike to Windsor and back. Outward via roads return mainly along the River Thames towpath. Places of interest passed Windsor Castle, Irish Guards statue in Windsor, Windsor Racecourse (Bob The Builders on stage today) Eton College (Olympic) Rowing Lake, People Bungee jumping from a crane, Heston Blumenthal & Giancarlo Caldesi's restaurants in Bray (was close to Roux Bros Waterside).
You can see the details and where I went with Google Earth here

A leisurely ride as it's very hot today

Windsor is such a lovely place.
Every home-owner must be a millionaire though, I'm guessing.
Nice one les certainly a good thing to measure your exercise see how you progress. When i first started doing the same I realised I was running far further than I thought I was
I make sure i do a couple of walks a day and most days a run of 6 km's or more with more like 12-15 km's at the weekend
A couple of years back I got in a but of a bad way with a bad back and started with walks which got longer and brisker before resuming my running.
One thing i noticed is many Phills find it odd to walk as when in Phill trycycles get used for anything more than a stroll round the garden
The wife now seems like an olympic athelete when back in Phill walking with the family around a mall
But noticed many richer/better off phills are getting into Jogging and going to the Gym as the diet get more western in size and calories
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops
Yes this should be an interesting, inspiring thread for all of us who want to get fit
But today is "treat day" no running and for my dinner it will be Chicken Madras,Garlic Nan,pilau Rice and can of normal coke, followed by 3 large bottles Crabbies ginger beer
Thats my allowed Sunday treat and since I have been working all afternoon I'm going to Bloody enjoy this
Work hard,train hard,party hard
I've been working hard lol! It's now getting harder to keep up with you
Here's mine http://runkeeper.com/user/BeezPeanutz/activity/40898235
Today is very warm and lovely weather- I find it very difficult to climb hills when it is hot and humid I was struggling!!!
Anyhow- this is my activity for this weekend I will try to do more during the week maybe walking from work or a quick 10 miler, OR run! I hate running I've never been a big fan but I may try it as well to introduce new challenge and to diversify

Great result Peanutz your min per mile is improved from 6.39 to 5.34 that's impressive
I just got a bike from my neighbour so I can start cycling now too
I can use your min/mile as a target now to motivate me
Peanutz I have added you to my street team on runkeeper
Well I will just set off on bike wobbling away and do a test run to give me an idea on Tuesday
First of all it's my run tmrw not neglecting that as damned hard as it is
I'm hoping for 1.28 time tmrw
Also Dedworth I do not approve of you metric indicators we use miles here
Get a grip man
Good Try but it's this one
Yes when you have earned it it tastes even better
Dedworth can you add Runkeeper to your phone then we all have the same app and can link up better.
Some members are already fit ! Today two of us had an enjoyable three hours in Scarborough's South Bay with a kayak - the rowing was one thing, carrying the kayak to and from the beach was another . It wasn't sensible to have smart phones or cameras with us, so there's no record of our activity this time .
Fewer than 2% of the "active" ( regularly contributing ) forum membership have so far posted what they're doing to get / keep fit . I've done my bit to support Les, and make no apologies for listing the risks of NOT exercising . But the exercise can be enjoyable in moderation, you don't have to feel pressurised, intimidated or necessarily compete with others . Nor, if it doesn't suit, do you need to record every single activity - just be true to yourself . Once you accept the need for exercise - there's NO excuse for not exercising - then it should become part of - and prolong - your life .
I'm very competitive I guess and after years of being a lazy so and so have rekindled my competitive spirit.
i cant get enough at the moment now i have the bike that's a new edition to my workout and hopefully this week i will cram a game of tennis in (not played in 10 years)
I possibly may push myself too hard but thats me.
I'm felling a right bloater tonight though after my curry and beers
Damn I feel guilty.
