Smile SPOUSAL VISA ON JULY 17..need ur advices

GOOD DAY TO EVERYONE...am avid fan in this site..it helps me to prepare my requirements for the preparation of the application of the spousal visa.I lived here in Davao City and I was married with my British husband last May 12, 2011. I had passed my A1 English Test which was i taken in Cagayan de Oro City (nearest testing center for me) only it expires on July 17 because of the new rules of UKBA. NOw, my problem is the release date of my new renewed passport( has mutilation problem even it expires on 2014 so need to renew and so I also change marital status) its gonna be on AUGUST 16,2011... we are affected of the DFA new rules from 15 days now it becomes 50 working days. This is such painful circumstances for us couple because we both prepared all the necessary documents so that after the wedding we can hopefully apply for the visa, only the biggest obstacle is my passport. Can I appeal to the DFA to have early release of my passport ? has anybodyy here has a experiences on these matter??? It really add to the cost of applying Visa if i need to retake the English test plus the fact the cost of the test.As I also inquire for new licensed testing center here in the Philippines after July 17..i cannot find new list, because they said the previous licensed testing center their licenses was expired last May 31. Such really a dilemma..what to do..Please share with me advices.THANK U SO MUCH

You should have used your old passport. When i called the DFA regarding the change of name and status, and they told me how long the process will be, i have decided not renew or have it changed. My husband agreed with me, I took the A1 test in Cagayan too and applied for spouse settlement, and visa is granted.

I think you should take another A1 test, and make sure that the test provider must be accredited or listed in the UKBA List of Accredited English Test Providers.

By the way I'm from Davao too, but I'm here in Cebu right now for the CFO.

    Hi viernz, welcome here.

The difficulty you have is that you will not have any passport.
You cannot make any visa application without your passport.
If you cannot get your passport back in time to make an application before 17 July then you cannot make application.

If you took your English Test with someone who is NO LONGER on the UKBA approved listing of providers then I'm sorry to confirm that just as aryM has said, you will need to take another test.

Here is the UKBA new approved listing:-

We decided to take a trip to Europe at short notice last year.My wife holds dual UK/Filipino citizenship and realised her RP passport had expired. She applied online for an appointment for renewal at DFA Manila. The first available appointment was 6 weeks after our departure. She used her British passport on exit but we were held at immigration after they requested sight of her local passport, even telling her she could be fined as an overstayer. She asked how a natural born filipina could overstay in her country of birth and showed xerox copies of her certificate of oath of allegiance when she registered the dual citizenship at the embassy in London. We had to wait for the supervisor to finish his meal so that a decision could be made.As valid travel documents were in order she was stamped out but not before the original exit stamp had been cancelled and re-stamped!On our return an appointment was secured for appointment 7 weeks ahead, first available slot and after a 4 hour process the application was lodged including fee for courier delivery within 15 days.6 weeks later the renewed passport arrived. In just over 4 years the performance will be repeated.
I may be slightly off topic but the only suggestion I have is an appeal to the DFA office to fast track your renewal.Agencies for OFWs and travel firms sometimes have contacts for priority issuance,it may be worthwhile to try that route. Hope it works out for you.Best of British as the saying goes!

    viernz,

no need to change your passport if it expires in 2014, just used your maiden name and have it amended when your here.

this country and philippines totally respects women's rights to use their maiden name.
    Life as we make it

thanks purple for the info shared, but my probs started when my old passport being glued up the edge pages..so mutilation applies adviced to renew and prolonged days of DFA processing add the key probs.

Well anyway guess everything has a reason for this and hoping next time circumstances and situation will be with us. I set my mind now that I need to wait for the passport to be release and take new test the UKBA required...THANK U SO MUCH..GOD BLESS US ALL

If the test and provider is on the latest list below it's valid from 18 July 2011 onwards

    new approved listing from UKBA

If it's not on the new list then it's only valid until 17 July 2011

    HI tanga,

how many times i appealed to DFA Davao so that they can give me a referral letter to DFA MANILA..but they said my case not belong to emergency cases that they can cater for faster release. For that I cannot do anything, but to wait that my passport will released. So, for now i just do my self review for IELTS for English test requirements.

    Thank you!

Viernz ... I've just been reading your two introductory threads. Sometimes - even when couples appear to have rigorously followed the guidelines necessary in order to apply for Settlement Visas - it seems there are circumstances that can [and often do] crop up which are beyond their control. Regrettably, yours happens to be one such example ... due to recent SIGNIFICANT *changes in the prescribed requirements - notably, *amendments to the Approved List of English Language Testers by the British Government on the one hand, and those correspondingly implemented by the Philippine Authorities on the other.

Whilst there are people who might imply "it's easy to be wise after the event", I feel it is really just unfortunate that the application you are about to make could turn out to be delayed by these changes ... and I empathise with your predicament. Sadly, there's little I can add to what folk here have already said ... except to say how impressed I am with your acceptance of this temporary setback, extend a warm to this friendly site and wish you Godspeed in your efforts to be with your husband as soon as possible.
