Yesterday they unveiled a statue of a Guardsman in Windsor cast from Iraqi bronze with Afghan cobbles in the base.


Today there's been a big welcome back parade and marchpast of 1st Btn Irish Guards in Windsor, the the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge presented their medals in a private ceremony at the barracks

Sadly the military tradition in our family died with my dad ( 30 years RN, followed by 15 yrs teaching at the Army Apprentices College), my Grandad (35 years Cheshire Regiment) and my favourite Uncle, who was in the Coldstream Guards.

I still feel a connection with our gallant lads though.
