It's been said before, but Scotland's two seasons are ... winter and July.
Just for the record, yesterday's official maximum temperature in Perth (Scotland) was about the same as Perth (Australia) - 19 and 20 Centigrade ( 68 Fahrenheit ). It fell to 0 ( 32 ) on Cairngorm.
The warmest place in the UK was Jersey at 30 ( 86 ), the same as Paris, and beating Rome, Athens, Majorca, Corsica, and Geneva ( all around 29 ). Manila reached 31.
Scarborough's weather readings are not accepted by the Met Office, just as well as the instruments are on top of a hill ( catching more sunshine, more wind, and lower temperatures than rival resorts of Whitby / Bridlington).
