    Things to do before 50

I have just started my 50th year and got thinking last night about what I want to do/try/see before my 50th Birthday in 362 days, visiting the Himalayas for a month (Tibet/Nepal) is right up there.. literally!!!

So what would be your suggestion for

    before 50

    before 60

    before 70

when you are Arthurs age LOL... sorry Arthur

Get stocked up with Viagra ?

Have your heart checked out...before it's too late.

Have a quick check around to see how many of your friends are still alive.

I have several years left before I am 50 so I still have time to do a few more things, got a trial microlight lesson booked in 2 weeks time,I always wanted a microlight and a decent one can be picked up for 20 k so who knows
    Tibet/Nepal
Both great places,I prefer Nepal, went into Tibet from Xinjiang back around 1990'ish,still got my alien travel permit as tibet was closed to foreigners back then but I went anyway as you were still able to watch the sky burials just outside Lhasa,I also met the Dali Lama and shook his hand in India's Dharamasala(little tibet) I went with a spiritual hippy type girl who was studying meditation in Bod Ghaya,I wasnt interested in meetimg the Dali Lama,I was more interested in getting inside her knickers to my eternal shame Happy days

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

    I hope it worked

I did a microlight lesson about 20 years ago, it was a great experience. Much better than flying a Cessna because you get a real feeling of being outside. They're pretty safe too, if the engine runs out of fuel or stops, you just glide back down to terra firma.

I've got another 6 and a bit years till I'm 50 and have done a lot of the things I wanted to do before I was 50. I've always believed in doing things instead of just dreaming about them, the only excuse that counts is lack of money. I don't want to be on my death bed thinking to myself, I wish I had done that or done this.

In my earlier years a lot of my goals centred around cars and travel, I've done cars to death now and have owned a couple of full blown Italian supercars, I'm not really bothered about that anymore. Travel is my main obsession and some of the more unusual things I want to do are along the following lines:

Travelling the entire length of Eurasia overland
Travelling the Pan Pacific Highway from Tierra Del Fuego to Alaska
Visiting some of the 10 tallest buildings in the world (including, the Burj Tower, Taipai 101, Petronas Tower....etc) Fortunately I did the WTC in 1993

The only continent I have never visited and have absolutely no desire to visit is Africa.

My ultimate goal is to have set foot in at least 100 different countries by the time I'm 65.

That's "funny", Ian ... because Myrna's often said she doesn't fancy visiting any of the African countries either!

I just have another year to go before my son will be off to Uni'.

    Then...FREEDOM ! ....TRAVEL !

The only reason I didn't cycle to Hong Kong before was because I couldn't bear to be away from him....so.

His friend apparently passed his driving test today, and my son announced that he was going out in the friend's car with him this evening.

Both boys are 17 years old.

    Am I a worried dad ?

There was talk of restricting young drivers from taking out passengers until they are 25 years old

I'm sure they will be fine Graham

Looking for a personal mantra as you prepare to tee off down life's back nine? How about this one: Habits kill. By now, you may have seen more of other parts of the world than you've actually seen of your own hometown because you've been a good little Pythagorean and mastered the straight line between A and B and never got beyond point C.

But now is the time to get lost, at least metaphorically. Take that road you've never taken. Go to work by bus instead of train. Or get really radical, and walk somewhere. Mix it up. And be sure not to plan too much. It takes all the fun out of it.

Just been on the Phone,my initial microlight lesson is booked for next saturday at 4pm got an hour,if I can scrape the cash together I have found a school in Thigh'land that runs a course without the vagaries of british weather I have flown in one before over Pinatubo, but that was a fixed-wing microlight, the one I am taking the lesson in is a flex-wing we only live once

I always get a strong urge to jump,I normally feel odd standing on the edge of cliffs and suchlike as it something seems to tell a person to fly I dont want to jump from a microlight, heights are a buzz
