My wife will be returning home soon with her 8 year old son after successfully getting a settlement visa for him.
She attended the CFO when she came here a couple of years ago, will he need to attend or are children exempt?

Your son will not have to attend the cfo as he is too young my fianee just got the cfo sticker for her daughters pasport when she came over

''Emigrants 12 years and below are exempted from the PDOS/Peer Counselling Session, but are still required to register with the CFO even by proxy''
Let your wife bring her CFO certificate ,both(child/mother) passports with valid visa stamps, and fill in the emigrants application form ..she can get the CFO sticker for her son on the same day..good luck!!

Thanks for the quick replies.
Does this have to be done at the CFO or can it be done in the Airport?
CFO ,I dont want a hassle in the airport, it might be more expensive

hello,
how long does ur step son got his visa?
and what are the requirements?i will be applying for a visa of my 11 year old son soon.im now in england since may 2011. i have already affidavit for sole custody and responsibility of my son.no family name of the father reflected on the birth certificate.thanks
It only took 1 week after submitting the application to get the visa.
The application and requirements are the same as when you applied for spouse visa but this time you will be the sponsor to your son. If this is not possible, your husband could be also be the sponsor.
We included 3 letters of sponsorship, from my wife as sponsor, from me as co sponsor and last was from her mother who had been looking after her son while she was away. Each letter explained the situation regarding the sole responsibility of her son.
Good luck with your application
thank you for the info...
i get a bit confuse as whats better if..
1. me the sponsor - coz i dont have job but looking.i have in mind,as the moment my son joins me here in england who would look after him. i cant hand in my son to people i dont know, i.e paid child minder, neighbor or relatives here.or
2. my husband - as he is working full time.
thanks again
as you do not have a job yet, it would be no problem if your husband will be the sponsor.
